There were better ways to handle this situation than giving Brook Smith the boot. The fact that you find the lesbian storyline 'explicit' in a show where people are constantly having sex anywhere and everywhere they can is completely ridiculous.
I support this petition. This is obviously homophobia. As someone who supports gay and lesbian couples, this move completely and thoroughly disgusts me. To end such a relationship would be one thing, but to fire such an amazing actress as Brooke Smith is appalling.
Since I first saw Brook in SOTLambs, I've followed her career. She's brilliant. Her portrayal of Erica Hahn is wonderful and so much more than EH's sexuality. We want her on the show.
How can we expect America to be the best country in the world when we have things like Proposition 8 and TV stations writing characters off shows? What message is this sending out to other countries out there? How can we be better if we don't try to grow as a nation? How can we be better if we don't let go of hate?
I support this petition. There were/are character stories with less chemistry than Hanh had. I really am not going to wtach this show anymore if this isn't fixed.
I support this petition. Please, open your eyes and see where the future is heading. There is nothing wrong with that situation, and you certainly shouldn't fire an actress for doing her job, and extraordinarily well I might add. You will lose viewers.
I support this petition. When I heard that Brooke Smith's last episode would be on 11/6/08, I decided that would be my last Grey's episode. Melissa George's character was supposed to be bisexual, but is now straight. People have mentioned that ABC has other gay characters, you had 5, you fired 1, and I bet Callie will become straight again...it was a phase. I will not support a show or network that is homophobic and limits its gay characters.
I support this petition. This was one of the most interesting story lines in recent Grey's memory. Not to mention the wonderful actress's who portray the characters. VERY disappointed!!
