Horse slaughter is the most cruel, vile, inhumane way of killing in the world. These horses that have carried men through wars and died for us, been our trail partners for life, are taken to a horrid place where horses are slaughtered before their eyes, and finally they are stunned with a painfull captive bolt gun that drives a spike into their skull. Finally, they are hung upside down and their throats are slit, where the blood runs down to their nostrils and drowns them. Magnificence is the escence in these horses, for their heart is one full of gold. They carry us down the homestretch in the Kentucky Derby, take us over jumps and around barrells and through the woods, they once carried us through war where they sacrificed their lives for ours. Once in the Medieval times of the Crusades, a horse was killed right from under his rider, and the rider escaped with his life. These magestic creatures have done all they can, and now, for a few bucks, people throw them away like an old rag doll, and the memories of these heroes and heroins are slowly slipping away.
