A group of South Boston painters, writers, musicians, photographers, actors, athletes, historians and interested citizens are proposing that a South Boston Arts and Community Center be located in the former South Boston Police Station 6 at 273 D Street.

The proponents of this proposal say, “This building has served the South Boston Community so well during its active years as Police Station 6, and should continue to serve the community as a multi-use arts and community center.”

The need for a non-profit permanent office and meeting space for use for a number of local independent organizations (Senior Citizens, Historical Society, Sports Museum, Arts Association, etc.) would be well-served in a stimulating venue where artists would share their work and talents through exhibits, theatrical and musical performances, educational efforts and outreach programs.

Offering an array of arts programs and classes this center would offset the lack of arts programs in our public schools and offer stability for the aforesaid groups.
