I support this petition. Springfield alone brings in 10 times more in tourism revenue than the $2 million that will be saved by closing sites and cutting jobs. The loss in tourism revenue will further erode the economy of Illinois. Please rethink this decision.
I support this petition. I am 4th grade teacher and it saddens me to think that so many of Illinois' historical sites are falling victim to budget cuts. While I realize that there are different budgets for different sectors of Illinois government, how about cutting back on the $5500 a day travel for the governor to use the state jet to go back and forth to Chicago on a more than regular basis? I don't make $5500 in a month! How can that be justified when historic treasures across the state are closing? Remember, you in state government and you are the voice of the people. Keep the sites open and figure out how to do it!
I absolutely support this petition. If we do not preserve our history, we will have nothing to learn from. The Illinois Government has been corrupt for as many years as I can recall and they will rob $ from anywhere that someone isn't looking. Just look at Chicago Mayor Daley and how he runs his city. We need to put a stop to this or our precious history will be lost and we will be doomed with the likes of Obama!!!
I support this petition.
We just happened to visit Grant's Home in Galena the day before the limited volunteer policy was put into effect. Our family was saddened by Gov. Blagoyevich's decision. I am proud to voice my opinion here. Thank you.
I support this petition.
Closing these sites will further effect our state economy and cause lost revenue for our state budget STOP the CLOSING OF OUR HISTORIC SITES!
