I support this petition. This is a disgrace to the great State of Illinois! Think of the educational opportunities that are going to be lost. Think of the history and heritage of IL -and- our nation. Think of 3 million vs. lost tourism revenue! Elected officials - please stop this and fund these treasures.
I fully support this petition. I find it shocking that the closures come at such a critical time for the sate's Lincoln History. Restore the funding, please.
I support this petition. I, too, am appalled by at thought of refusing education to our youth -- and closing such historical sites will do just that. With such an enormous focus on education today, I cannot imagine how our Governor can even consider limiting our society's chances for learning more about our rich history.
Moreover, with our economy in its current state, how does the Governor think that eliminating jobs will help?
I support this petition. Being raised in Springfield, IL, I visited all of the Lincoln sites as a kid through school and my parents taking us. I am appalled that the local children will no longer be able to learn about the history of the state of Illinois due to the idiot Governor.
I support this petition. Loss of public access to the frank Lloyd Wright home -- and the Vachel Lindsay Home State Historic Site at 603 S. fifth, walking distance from the Wright Home -- is an un-necessary travesty inflicted upon local citizenry and thousand of visitors to this area. Illinois legislators should re-discover the locatioin of their backbones and work to swiftly reverse this action.
I support this petition. We must consider the initial investment in restoring and maintaining these buildings. The damage to them during closure will be serious and take way more money when to restore when they are reopened.
