I support this petition. Keeping our historic sites open gives children a chance to learn about the past by visiting it. It not only helps them with shool and test scores, but also can inspire them with the passion to change history themselves.

I have fond memories of going to Lincoln Log Cabin with my classmates as a 5th grader. It was something that I looked forward to with anticipation and nearly 15 years later, still remember. Thousands of children will miss out on the opportunity to learn and be a part of the state of Illinois history. It is sad that the actions of a few will cheat so many children out of a wonderful opportunity.
