I support this petition. I remember all the work in the past that has been done to the statehouse. It is a very nice piece of history to remember Abraham Lincoln. Our town is very proud of the history we share for tourists in Vandalia. Please don't close our statehouse.
Please consider restoring funding for the vital work that IHPA does.Illinois stands as a leader in our nation's history and the sites that will be closed represent a fundamental part of our understanding of our selves. History places each of us on the continuum of time and provides us with our sense of place, our importance as individual Illinoisans.
Let's not allow the Land of Lincoln to lead the way in dismantling such an important part of the American experience.I support this petition.
I support this petition.
Please don't shut down Lincoln Log Cabin, I grew up in the area and it is one of my most cherished childhood memories. I hoped to one day bring my children......
I unreservedly support this petition. The Dana-Thomas House is a gem that, along with other historic sites, add rich educational and cultural value to our lives. They also bring needed dollars to Springfield.
I support this petition. Please allow future generations to become rich in the history of our state and our country through having the opportunities to walk the halls that our forefathers walked. To rob them of this experience would be a tragedy of paramount proportions.
I support this petition. The Dana Thomas House is one of the few landmarks in Springfield, Illinois that is not related to Abraham Lincoln. It needs to remain open in order to bring in tourists of a different kind (those who come for architectural reasons) rather than those who come for the Presidential reasons!!
I support this petition. Absolutely! Closing the Lincoln sites just before the celebrations for him is just folly. Also closing Dana-Thomas is almost worse. I assume the state will continue to operate the climate control to keep the valuable furniture in good shape. Also, there should be insurance on the building and contents that will continue--just to protect the money invested by the taxpayers of IL.
