I support this petition. Save this beautiful and historic building. I have been there and a majority of the employees are volunteers. I don't understand what the State is thinking. Do the right thing and keep the Dana-Thomas open for the people of the State and the world to enjoy and experience!
PLEASE don't take away our state parks and historic sites! I grew up with these parks, and I can't imagine not sharing them with my children and grandchildren.
I support this petition.Other states are so much better at preserving their history. The governor and legislature should quit arguing and start governing.
I support this petition. And frankly it's obscene to cut funding to something as important as the preservation of our history.
Firing talented people, and replacing them with second string replacements willing to work for less, with less, and with less passion. This is not the way to preserve a society.
Further, closing historical buildings of note, such as the Dana Thomas House to public viewing is atrocious.
Please reconsider.
I support this petition.
Growing up in Illinois, to close any or all of these listed sites is severely hurting the preservation of not only Illinois History, but our National History. The Dana Thomas House must stay open because of it's importance as one of Frank Lloyd Wright's best architectural wonders. Also, having grown up in Bloomington Normal, the David Davis Mansion provides us a complete look into the time of Lincoln and into the life of one of the most influencial figures of the 1860s, Judge David Davis. I'm embarrassed as a citizen that any of these sites are closing or have been closed. It's an embarrassment to the educational process, the cultural and historical preservation process, and also reminds us that these things are not a priority of persons within government. Perhaps those people shouldn't be priority either. If these sites are shut down, even private donations will cease to come to these sites.
