I 100% support this petition. We can not close and forget the past, the Vandalia State house is more than a building, it is a major portion of Vandalia's income, and industry. With a faltering downtown already a problem, to close our State house would be to doom our down town, and the business people who earn a living there.
I support this petition. In order to move forward in a postitive direction, we must know our history. Please do not destroy the future of our children.

This is the most disgusting result of political nonsense I have ever encountered! There is no way these sites can be re-created if they are lost. Look beyond the ends of your political noses and keep what is national history as well as state history available, or hand it over the the federal department of the Interior.
If you grew up in Illinois, you probably remember going to a miriad of historical places, mostly having to do with former president Abe Lincoln. Can you imagine our children not having the same positive experience to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom? I support this petition.
Please, reconsider this decision. These sites are a valuable part of our country and heritage. As a citizen of Illinois, I feel very strongly about maintaining them.
