I support this petition. There is no good reason to close these sites. Please please keep them open! Losing them would be losing a part of our history- why would you want to do something like that?
I support this petition.---Closing sites that are family favorites and tourist destinations in Central Illinois doesn't seem fair to Central Illinois.....or the State as a whole....Illinois has many wonderful places to spend vacation time...and many are very cost effective for those who can't afford the "big theme park" type vacation.
Weldon Springs has been integral to Clinton since the 1800s. I grew up there, live there now, and use the park. I support this petition and urge the Governor to not cut funds for this and other state historic sites.
I was a long time resident of Illinois from 1952-1989. I am also a 7th cousin of Abraham Lincoln and am very upset that alot of the Lincoln historical sites will be closed. I guess the Governor needs to take the slogan off the license plates becasue we will no longer be the Land of Lincoln. There wont be any historical sites for people to see.
I support this petition. Maybe the governor should stop his personal flights to get from his home to his job. Nobody pays for my travel to my job. Here is a novel idea...move!
Please save The Vandalia Statehouse. It has great historical significance and gives our children a glimpse into the past. I support this petition.

I support this petition highly. As a museum professional and director of a private museum in Springfield and as a native of Illinois, I am apalled by the Governor's action in light of the coming bicentennial anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The impact upon tourism and consequently upon the State's economy will be negative at a time that we should be welcoming visitors and using those tour-related dollars to fund other initiatives and programs of State government.
