Why should "democracy" when applied to field sports mean the majority imposing its will on a responsible minority when in so many other cases it is the reverse?
Angela Smith is a pernicious individual and should leave her prejudices in England where her lot have already caused havoc to country folk. Fight on for your liberty. EVERYONE!
The idea that this order is about promoting conservation action for hares is simply a lie. It is not a welfare or conservation issue, it is about an urban minority seeking to dominate the rural community who, they obviously believe have less rights than city dwellers - Is our country still a democracy or not?

Angela Smith's position in Govt.is not comenserate with her welll known personal agenda. She uses her posn.to further this agenda which is totally undemocratic. She must go.a.j.cramsie
My livelihood is at risk as I deal in horses most of which are sold to the hunting field. hare numbers increased 6 fold between the census dates before the SPO was introduced why do you wish to continue with something that has been proven to be unnecessary.
Does Northern Ireland not have more important issues to deal with , without a politicion causing more bigotry. Have lessons from the past not been learnt!!
This is political. It is not good animal welfare to ban the least cruel way to control pest numbers and subject them to dangerous and uncertain methods of culling.
I HAVE VOTED LABOUR CONSISTENYLY SINCE I WAS 18, I JOINED A TRADE UNION AS AN APPRENTICE AT 16. THIS IS THE TYPE OF SINGLE ISSUE BIGOTRY THAT NOW FUELS THE LABOUR PARTY, AND THE REASON WHY I WILL NO LONGER VOTE LABOUR OR PAY A POLITICAL LEVY THROUGH MY UNION SUBS.
Unnprotected Republic-dwelling hares will be as prolific as ever. Lacking a hare-proof fence around Ulster, what is the use of
stopping hare hunting with hounds only in counties in Ulster? The hares have no regard to Irish political lines.
A ban will not prevent farmers from needing to control rabbit populations; it will not help the rabbits, and it will not help the hounds. Do NOT make the same mistake others have made by making this ill-conceived and anti-nature ban part of your Northern Irish law.
The Hon.Member for Basildon should ask her constituents whether her energies are being focussed on their interests or on her personal agenda as a former employee of LACS.
Hunting hares with Beagle hounds allows the fittest hares to survive to breed; whilst swiftly removing those which are diseased, or whose genetics would not normally lead to the survival of the species.
This is deplorable!
Orgainzed Hare Coursing should be allowed. It is a traditional sport that has been carried on for thousands of years
It is a safe and humane way to control hares (far better than poisoning which 'does in' a lot of other animal.
Please think again
This is an abuse of a position of power and privilege, and is just what can be expected of this "Minister" who has never let bare facts cloud her prejudice. It is too much too expect a bigot such as Ms Smith too ever listen to the views, opinions and expertise of others whose stance does not conform to her selfish personal manifesto.
Shame on you.
The Labour party is the Bias party. Anyone who has any contact with hunting in any form should be ashamed if the voted for the party which produced this kind of action
This is a decision made on predjudice not fact. Can anyone tell me that a former employee of an anti-hunting group is capable of making a decision based on fact and not a paymasters agenda?? A moral disgrace and I feel embarrassed that NI is stuck with such an English bigot
I say here here
