The fact that this legislation is the brainchild of an (unrepresentative) minister of state who used to be a press officer for the LACS, shows how the Gov't allows deep rooted prejudices to prevail over democratic will.
since the governments consider themselves such experts on the countryside maybe we should perform things we no nothing about like brain surgery or the like!
This is nothing to do with Irish Hares it is to do with the men in grey suits trying to control our lives and take away our choices. This and all the other bills are a diversion providing cover to get at the real cause which is to take away our democracy.
I am appalled that Angela Smith is abusing her position in the current direct rule being applied to the province to enforce her LACS prejudices on to the people of
Northern Ireland. The Order must be withdrawn forthwith.
Hares, an agrucultural pest, are best protected by structured hunting/coursing regulations. Without those regulations hares will be shot indiscriminately whatever the DoE decides. Shooting and wounding of hares causes much higher distress than quick kills associated with coursing.
Hunting as it is currently practiced is confortably within the acceptable margin of human behaviour towards animals. I enjoy Beagling but would not chose to course hares.
