This is the saddest thing I have heard in a long time. When you intrust your dog to the care of a "handler", you should feel that they will look after them, so this would NEVER happen. So sorry for the loss of this precious creature.
I have always loved going to the AKC dog shows. This puts a little bit of a damper on it. As it makes me wonder how these dogs are being treated when not in the ring!
It is the greatest loss of a dog to it's owners, but also a loss of a career to the handlers for being careless with a such a wonderful dog. This should never happen again!
Hate to say it but I see dogs left unattended on grooming tables strung up from the tables "arm." I've seen dogs left that way for an hour. Strung up too tight to even sit and disturb their perfect grooming. No one responsible for the dogs within sight the whole time. What happened to Jag is terrible. what surprises me is that it doesn't happen to a lot more dogs.
This was a totally preventable "act of negligence". It should never be allowed to happen again. Make handlers more accountable for their precious charges.
I cannot express my feelings adequately about Jag. I get sick to my stomach thinking about the whole thing. I would be devastated if I lost one of Goldens to something that was preventable, it has made me appreciate my dogs even more that I could have possibly thought. I am all for a law such as this. I feel so bad for the owners.
This is a horrible tragedy. My heart goes out to the owner's of this beautiful guy. I will keep Jag in my prayers that he is returned safely to his owners.
I am very sorry and sad for your loss. I will say a prayer for your family. Remember Jag is at the Rainbow Bridge now and no one can ever hurt him again. God bless you.
If anything deserves a lifetime suspension from AKC, this is it. Terrible tragedy, and even worse cover-up. Shame on them for putting this dog and his loving owners through such a horrible affair.
I have seen dogs left alone on grooming tables at every show I have ever attended. I doubt this is the first time a dog has been (allegedly) hung to death. Regardless of the fast pace of many dog shows, handlers MUST maintain consistent standards of care and vigilence.
