My heart goes out to Jag and his family. How could a professional handler be so lax with someone else's animal? I would never trust my dogs to these people. They should be held accountable for their actions. If they would have taken the proper care with Jag this wouldn't have happened. My condolences.
How long is the AKC going to allow things like this to go on? I had a dog seriously injured with a 'pro' handler and she lied and lied about it. Nobody cared. The AKC didn't care. The breed club didn't care. She continues to be hired by breeders who don't care. My handler wouldn't even say she was sorry that it happened.
My heart goes out to the owners of Jag. We trust our Handlers to take care of our loved dogs and to bring them home safe to us and then you hear of a terrible story like this. Big worry.I hope AKC will do something about these handlers and not allow them to show again. They should never have kept the truth from the owners. All the heartache and pain they caused to the owners and to poor Jag.Dogs should never be left alone on a Grooming Table!
I have seen this practice many times over our 20+ years of owner handler showing. Unfortunately done by some that are now respected judges. The whole thing makes me sick - including AKC's return to licensing handlers again. Our prayers are with the owners of Jag.
This accident could happen so many times over... I see handlers do this (leave dogs on tables) all the time. This is disgusting and cruel! I would also recommend that everyone buy those release clips that go on grooming nooses, so that if your dog ever does jump, the noose will let go right away.
In my opinion the practices of many professional handlers need to be better monitored. While many are wonderful, there are others who do not treat their customers' dogs as the precious responsibilities that they are.
Horrendous and negligent on the part of the handler!!
There's a top Sheltie handler out there who left my puppy on a grooming table at the National Specialty in 2000, who will NEVER handle any of my dogs ever!!!
This horrendous accident was totally avoidable. There is absolutely no excuse for such incompetence. It is time for strict rules governing "professional " dog handlers.
The practive of leaving dogs unattended in nooses has always bothered me. I have placed more than one dog back up on a table when it bolts and the handlers/owners were not watching. My thoughts and prayers go out to the owners of Jag.
