I saw this happen last year at the Kerry Blue Nationals in Montgomery Couty, PA. Fortunately there were others close by who rescued the dog. The handler in Jag's case should never be allowed to take dog clients again.
I was horrrified when I heard of this particularly since the Snyders had my golden some years back.They should be banned from the akc and should never be allowed to show again.Also where is the GRCA on this?
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Jags owners. I cannot even imagine the pain that you are feeling. After having just got TWO puppies that I bred back from my handlers and close friends, it is unthinkable for me and makes me that much more appreciative of them.
I can't believe that they would leave a dog on a table w/a noose around it's neck and walk off. These people have no regard for life itself. They should be banned from competition and stripped of all their credentials. I sure don't think they would leave their 2 year old child alone in a bathtub, would they. Who knows, maybe they do?
I hope this heartbreaking tragedy will be an eye-opener to those who have dogs with handlers and those who leave dogs unattended on tables. I realize accidents can happen but there is no excuse for deceit. I hope those responsible will no longer be allowed to participate in any AKC sanctioned event.
The handler's actions were negligent, and the handler should be penalized heavily by the AKC. Not only did the handler neglect the dog's safety but he/she then turned around and lied to the owners. The AKC should make sure this behavior is not rewarded with only a slap on the wrist for the person responsible,
Maybe the lead should be modified to allow the lead to extend, at least to the floor level to prevent such a misshap.Seems to me that suppervision allone may not prevent another tragedy.
