This is such a shame. The person who was responsible and then tried to cover his tracks by lying should be punished severely! Let's make sure this doesn't happen again!
havning done grooming of showdogs, I cannot understand why a dog would be left unattended for any length of time - it is irresponsible. Despite being trained, they are still dogs, and in a freak moment could get decide to jump. Professional groomers & handlers know this is not acceptable. I would strongly question the abilities of the handler(s) in this case. Godspeed Jag - may your death not be in vain!
My heart goes out to the family of Jag.. And Goldens are such wonderful dogs.. Such a shame.. And I agree, also, that the groomers should have to be CLOSER than 10-20 feet.. An arm's length would be perfect!
It is still too far to leave a dog 20 feet alone on the table. I see it all the time at shows around here and will watch that dog until the owner comes back. It only takes a few seconds for a tradgy to happen.
I have seen so many dogs at shows left alone on a grooming table with no handler or owner in sight. I know most of these dogs are used to it and probably behave but for the ones who do become upset or scared by somthing it can be a horrible thing. Please be safe with your dogs.
I agree that 10-20ft is too far. This tradedy could have been so easily avoided...what were those handlers thinking??!! Deepest sympathy to all that knew & love Jag.
This is Horrible ! And not one person seen this , and handlers so irresponsible to have left him! The poor owners of this nice dog, to have to live with this, from the handlers they trusted!
The #1 rule in tabling dogs is NEVER leave them unattended under any circumstances. I agree these people should be banned from AKC for life, and have already had AKC suspensions.
So sorry for your loss. It's such a shame such that things such as this could be prevented if only people would think before acting. Again, so sorry.
