These people that allowed this tragedy to happen and then lied about it afterwards should be charged with a crime. I sincerely hope no one ever allows them to have anything to do with dogs again.
Clearly good judgement was lacking...but compounding the tragedy afterward with subterfuge and lies, unthinkable.
Dogs left unattended with any form of noose (as happens frequently in benching too) should be stopped.
I have seen dogs left unattended while on a grooming table in a noose--------and when the young lady who was handling the dog was apprised for this, she had a snotty respnse!!! -----and this from a well-known breeder in the northeast :-(
would love to see this phenomenon stopped!
How horrible to get everyone to look for a dog that was lost...and it turn out the owners knew he really wasn't lost at all. Poor Jag and his owners must have no compassion.
The Rule should also state that if a dog IS left like that, the handler is automatically disqualified for all entries for the day. And these two handlers should be banned from all events.
What a tragedy and a horrifying lack of moral integrity on the part of the handlers in how they handled the situation after Jag's death.
So sad that people who claim they are " professionals" could do something SO irresponsible & then have to LIE to the owners.....they will answer to the big guy one day! Pay backs are hell.
It is a shame, but it is also very evident that the AKC needs to implement rules regarding leaving dogs unattended on grooming tables. I do not, however, think that being within 20 feet is close enough.
My condolences to Jag's family.
I am so sorry to hear this.Things that could of been prevented. This breaks my heart. But now that he is resting in Peace at Rainbow Bridge now.God will handle the rest>And may the owners find peace as I know how it feels to loose a loved one as I did my beloved Price. My heart goes to you and prayers in this time of need and healing.
I would DEARLY love to find out the AKC enacts the JAG Rule. However, given the fact that the AKC registers puppies from puppy mills it's unlikely that they will do anything here. Prayers do work miracles, tho, and I will pray that the AKC discovers the backbone needed to enact the JAG Rule as well as stop registering puppy mill puppies.
The AKC needs to quickly and seriously address the prevalent practice of leaving dogs on the grooming table unattended. How sad that JAG had to pay the ultimate price, and that the handlers did not accept responsibility for their negligence.
I sincerely hope the law suit filed will be closed in favor of the owners so that the word spreads and this practice stops. I strongly urge the AKC to enact the Jag Rule, with stiff, severe penalties -- both in high monetary fines and lifetime banishment from participation in any and all AKC events, registrations, etc.
May AKC implement a JAG LAW Penalty for all left unattended. My heart aches as it could have been my boy but he finsihed before he was sent. Let's not let this poor dogs suffering go in vain. There needs to be a JAG LAW PENALTY!
My sincere condolences.
What a waste of a Champion! How sad.
How many times I have seen this at the shows. Handler in the ring and a dog on the table.
AKC PLEASE Step up and help protect our Champions.
Unfortunately, I have all too often witnessed dogs being abandoned while on grooming tables by irresponsible assistants. I hope it changes, for Jag's sake.
There is no excuse for this to happen. My Deepest sympathy. I feel your pain and heartbreak. May God sustain you in this horrible, horrible tragedy that did NOT have to happen. God Bless!
Hopefully Jag's loss will not be in vain when this petition reaches the AKC and has the desired outcome. Janis and Family, I am so very very sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy.
A tragic and preventable loss of a sweet innocent life. I support the Jag Rule. May Jag running at the Rainbow Bridge. My heart goes out to Janis & Teddy.
