This is such a terrible story. This is why when my mischief was alive he was never out of my sight. Too much can happen in such a short period of time. Prayers for Jag.
This carless and senseless act must be addressed by the AKC foundation. To sit on the sidelines and not judge this deed will be an outright atrocity. "Bless Jag's Owners"
As a pet sitter, I have refused to work for someone whose dog hung itself on their chain link fence. Professional dog and cat handlers know better than to leave an animal alone.
This incident did not need to happen. Those people were very irresponsible and they should be held accountable for their actions. My heart goes out to Jag and his owners. God Bless. Jag will not be forgotten.
To leave a dog unattended on a grooming table should be a legal crime of/for Negligent and Inhumane treatment of an animal. I hope the AKC will include this somewhere in their bylaws for K-9 handlers.
This made me sick. But the problem boils down to money. The more they can show the more money they make. Heaven forbide they hire more help to watch the dogs...Jag may you rest in peace....
How utterly incredulous! Obviously these handlers had no common sense and posessed no safety concerns at all for animals in their charge. They should be heavily fined, plus banned from handling any animals forever. A little common sense and caring could have avoided a wrongful death for this poor dog.
I have always believed in safety first and still cannot believe how many dogs are left unattended on tables at shows. It only takes a moment for a tragedy to occur. This is outright negligence!
As a Gldn owner my heart bleeds for the owners. As a dog owner the handlers should be banned from showing and their licenses revoked for life and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There is no excuse for this negligence. The AKC MUST establish rules and enforce these rules to hopefully prevent this from happening to another dog.
I have always been surprised that there has not been a rule against this in past as it is common practice. I don't know how many times we have worried about unattended dogs left on tables. Yes, there should be a rule against it and fines to make the rule stick. Moreover the AKC rep at shows should be made to know that this is a *serious* matter not to be avoided. My condolences to the owners; my heart goes out to them.
If these allegations are true, then the two handlers should have their licenses revoked, and all privileges of participating in any AKC event suspended.I do know that AKC cannot act on a civil suit, until after the legal system has determined the case. Sincere sympathy to the owners, not only for the loss of Jag, but the duplicity that was perpetrated on them is inexcusable. Whatever happened to accountability in our society?
I am always affraid of dogs jumping off of the gooming tables and breaking there necks, let alone hanging themselves. This should be common scense but if we have to come up with a rule then so be it!
My sympathy goes out to the owners of Jag. I believe if AKC had to answere to someone issues that are brought up to there attention would not get by with a slap on the hand. How many times do we know of issues and nothing has ever came about? or a little suspension. Then there back rock and rolling! $$ Oil companies has to answere to the Corporation Commission. Then there is the EPA, These two are just examples. These goverment agencies looking over there shoulder to make sure issues are taken care of that are reported. No one wants the EPA on there heals! They shut you down! THIS and other issues should never be tollerated! Maybe a petition should be sent to the government for someone to be over the AKC organization.:) Then no one would be black balled in the dog show ring for reporting issues! If People would tell everything that goes on they couldn't step in a show building and win for the red flag on there head .
Poor, poor Jag. What a horrible way to die, and completely preventable. NO handler is THAT busy. If they're members of a professional organization, strip their membership, and broadcast their crime AND their names.
I agree to making this a finable rule. Too many times have I seen a dog fall off. Of course large dogs will drop the table with them. Small dogs will hang. Either way injury can/will occur. I am not clear based on information I have read that this happened to Jag. The handlers involved should be penalized from AKC for their actions, and it appears only they really know what happened and where Jag could be. Too many rumors are out there. But I do support this Rule!
Through this whole affair you did not mention who was at fault. I do agree with what you are promoting. The people should have had someone left behind to tend the upcoming dogs that they were RESPONSIBLE for.
The AKC needs to start action against these people, trusted with animals and well paid to care for them. They should never be allowed to handle another animal of any kind, period. My deepest sympathy to this poor dog's family and friends. Words cannot express how sad I am.
OK, this is a very sad deal, I had a friend that talked w/Audra,she still claims the dog ran away. I hope for all involved that it did. But still she went to a show and left the dog missing. I'd have skipped the show, stayed home to look for the dog w/the owner. My thoughts ... if this happened shame on the Snyders, they will get what is coming to them,if this didn't happened pray that Jag is found and may we be forgiven for trying the Snyders on the Internet, bottom line is this is a learning experience never leave a dog tied on a grooming table alone!
