Report to the show committee/supt. at once if you witness an act or condition that would put a life in jeopardy. The buck stops with all of us present at any show!

I don't know which was more cruel, the loss of Jag's life or the fraud the "professional handlers" perpetrated on Jag's poor owners.

Dogs are like young children, they require "line of sight" supervision. Just as a child should not be left alone in a bathtub, a dog should NEVER be left alone on the grooming table. These handlers need to be banned from ANY show site.

They say it only takes one person to make a difference. That began with the petition creator and has thus led to a whole community of so many, who have loved Jag as their own. He found a place in all of our hearts that will never leave. May Jag's life have never have been in vain and the Jag Rule be accepted and put into affect. To Teddy and Janis... your beautiful boy Jag will never be forgotten and I hope the petition from so many caring people, will make them stand up and take action and that justice will be served for sweet Jag. He will alway's be "somewhere out there" with so many agreeing that his life was to precious not to take action and have so many voices heard. We will never forget you!!!

Whether one is a pet owner or a handler, if you cannot treat an animal with humanity and love, don't own one or handle one. Everyone knows you NEVER leave a dog unattended, and if they don't realize this then they should not have the privalege of being a dog owner or handler.
#3239

Ralph Loveland said 08/13/05, 9:08 pm (verified)
Rules must be put in place to ensure this never happens again. This is horrible for any dog, but having it happen to a loveable golden somehow makes it even worse.

My deepest sympthies go out to Jag's family. What a Tragic loss for Jag's family and the dog world. Such a Beautiful Golden gone because of the handlers stupidity. The AKC should take the action that these handlers be BANNED WORLDWIDE so they can NEVER do this to any other animal. The same should apply to any handlers that have caused the loss and grief that these handlers have caused this family.

Chris McMahon said 08/12/05, 6:56 pm (verified)
Leaving a dog unattended is irresponsible. If having the dog in perfect coat is so important, they should have someone watching to keep the animal safe. And, it is not safe for those passing by a dog who in a stressful situation may not be friendly. I am sorry for Jag and the horrible events causing the owners so much grief that after his death the handlers lied to them. The handlers should be banned.

Such a shame that handlers don't love the dogs enough to care for them but then there are killers in all walks of life. Mine will never be placed with a handler ever, ever, ever. I have seen from my hotel those little shaking bodies when they are standing unattended on a table after being hosed off with freezing cold water on a chilly morning. Gives me the creeps.
