Report to the show committee/supt. at once if you witness an act or condition that would put a life in jeopardy. The buck stops with all of us present at any show!
Dogs are like young children, they require "line of sight" supervision. Just as a child should not be left alone in a bathtub, a dog should NEVER be left alone on the grooming table. These handlers need to be banned from ANY show site.
I see dogs left unattended all the time while on a grooming table... It is sad that a dog has to die before any action was taken... My heart goes out to Jag's owners.
AKC needs to hold these handlers responsible and introduce stiff consequences. My heart goes out to Jag's family and anyone who's pet has suffered at the hands of an irresponsible person.
The "PROFESSIONAL" certainly needs to be removed when referring to these irresponsible handlers. The fact it happened is bad enough, but then to LIE about it.......
If this had ever happened in the Medical Profession . . . anyone helpless left un attended . . this would be considered a criminal offense . . Please, let this be the same.
It is a common practice among handlers. But I have always been concerned about it for several reasons. Maybee this will make them find an alternative. They SHOULD be held accountable!
Would you leave your baby unattended on a changing table ?????It equals the same thing in my book. A life ,any life, is precious and deserves to be treated with love and respect. SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!
They say it only takes one person to make a difference. That began with the petition creator and has thus led to a whole community of so many, who have loved Jag as their own. He found a place in all of our hearts that will never leave. May Jag's life have never have been in vain and the Jag Rule be accepted and put into affect. To Teddy and Janis...
your beautiful boy Jag will never be forgotten and I hope the petition from so many caring people, will make them stand up and take action and that justice will be served for sweet Jag. He will alway's be "somewhere out there" with so many agreeing that his life was to precious not to take action and have so many voices heard. We will never forget you!!!
Whether one is a pet owner or a handler, if you cannot treat an animal with humanity and love, don't own one or handle one. Everyone knows you NEVER leave a dog unattended, and if they don't realize this then they should not have the privalege of being a dog owner or handler.
Rules must be put in place to ensure this never happens again. This is horrible for any dog, but having it happen to a loveable golden somehow makes it even worse.
Terrible story. And I hope the truth comes out. My dog, with a handler, fell off a table, the table fell on him. The handler lied. There has to be accountability when people have our dogs.
This has got to end! When my dog was with a handler and I was told that he fell off a table! Who wouldn't want to get their dog home right away after an incident like that! At least my dog was forutnate enough to live.
I wonder how many other tragedies like this have happened that we don't even know aobut. I have often thought that this was an outrageous thing to do leaving the dogs hang there, unable to do anything about it.
What a terrible tragedy. The "handlers" were thoughtless and irresponsible. I'm glad to know the truth was discovered for the sake of Jag and his owners.
Very sad to hear. Although hopefully something good will come of this and make people more aware of the dangers. I myself have seen it happen where dogs get left on grooming tables. Some people just don't think before they do things.
My deepest sympthies go out to Jag's family. What a Tragic loss for Jag's family and the dog world. Such a Beautiful Golden gone because of the handlers stupidity. The AKC should take the action that these handlers be BANNED WORLDWIDE so they can NEVER do this to any other animal. The same should apply to any handlers that have caused the loss and grief that these handlers have caused this family.
I'm so sorry this has happened to Jag. Accidents can happen and sometimes we think these type of things never happen to us. But unfortunately they do. Very hard lesson to learn.
Leaving a dog unattended is irresponsible. If having the dog in perfect coat is so important, they should have someone watching to keep the animal safe. And, it is not safe for those passing by a dog who in a stressful situation may not be friendly. I am sorry for Jag and the horrible events causing the owners so much grief that after his death the handlers lied to them. The handlers should be banned.
As a vendor at dog shows nationwide, I see this type of thing happen frequently. Thanks to everyone willing to take a stand and action to prevent this behavior!
My deepest sympathies to Jags' family. Sometimes it takes a tragedy like this to save others from going thru it. God Bless you, Jag for your sacrifice.
What a horrible Tragic thing to happen to such a beloved beautiful golden.
i dont know cold hard facts, but the outcome surely will be interesting to read. :(
my heart goes out to the family.
Such a shame that handlers don't love the dogs enough to care for them but then there are killers in all walks of life. Mine will never be placed with a handler ever, ever, ever. I have seen from my hotel those little shaking bodies when they are standing unattended on a table after being hosed off with freezing cold water on a chilly morning. Gives me the creeps.
