There is no reason why a dog had to die for something so completely irresponsible. The fact that there are no rules regarding this issue already is outrageous!!
If this can prevent one more dog injury due to careLESSness, it will be well worth it. This should never have happened the first time, don't let it happen AGAIN.
Leaving a dog unattended while in your care is irresponsible and negligent. Lying about what happened is reprehensible. They should not be allowed to continue handling dogs. Of course, I can't imagine anyone entrusting their dog to them either at this point.
Ny sentiments have already been expressed. We entrust our dogs/pets to Professional Handlers to care for our dogs as well as we would ourselves. Safety should never be taken for granted.
AKC better enforce more supervision outside of the ring than be concerned with what happens inside
Funny, to have to sign a petition for something that, to me, is common sense. I can't imagine ever leaving a dog totally alone on a table noosed or not.
A tragedy that need not have happened. Those responsible should be held accountable for their negligent and heartless conduct. My thoughts and prayers are with Jag and his family, who I admire for their tenacity in seeking justice for the loss of their beloved boy.
I agree with the new rule. When a dog is in the care of someone other then the owner, extra due diligence should be the rule, always keep the dog safe.
I echo the sentiments of my sister below. The negligence of the handlers is positively criminal -- they should certainly never be allowed to handle another dog again!
The lies and deceit involved in the sensless death of Jag are intolerable, as well as the lack of proper supervision by leaving a dog unattended on a grooming table with a noose around his neck. My heartfelt sympathy to the owners of this lovely dog.
Ted and Janis. Maybe this poem patiently written by my friend Kathy Thompsen will offer you and all of us so solace and hope. "PATIENTLY" I see the gates of heaven and I know I'm headed home. I see the Great St. Peter but alas he's not alone. The tears have blurred my vision but I'd know him anywhere. He sits and waits so patiently. He knows I'll soon be there. I drop to my knees and I call his name. He responds w/ bounding glee. He whines and cries. the joy is in his eyes. He's waited so patiently. I know it is truly heaven for that is plain to see. My faithful friend and companion is once again w/me.

This is terrible and such a scary event to have happen. My thoughts are certainly with you and I hope that this horrible accident will cause others in the AKC (and even UKC) to pay attention to dogs on grooming tables.
a senseless tradegy. No dog should ever be left unattended on a grooming table with or without a noose nor should they be left in an ex-pen alone. The Snyders should be indefinately suspended from all AKC events and privledges with no chance of reinstatement. Unfortunately this incident puts a black mark on all pro handlers which is totally uncalled for. Not all pro handlers act with such unethical behavior or neglect. The AKC needs to step up and hold ANY person accountable for such practices.
Dear Janis and Teddy, I hope that the outflow of love and support can help ease a bit of the suffering you have endured for the past 8 weeks. Your lovely Jag will never be forgotten.
