This petition is to mark a protest of the desecration of the mausoleums in Jannat al-Baqi (Medina) of the blessed Prophet's (PBUH) family. Although this occured in 1925, Muslims across the world express their anger and outrage at such disrespect to ones who are held in high esteem and honour.

Jannat al-Baqi has been cornered off by walls, like a cage by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia not allowing Muslims access to this respected site, especially during the annual Hajj ceremony. Every Muslim has a right to Jannat al-Baqi and it is not only for the eyes of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We the undersigned are calling on the re instatement of the shrines that were demolished and permission of visitation to the graves of the blessed ones. There is no humanitarian law that stipulates that it is a grave error to visit an area of historical significance, be that related to religious figures or not. There is nothing to suggest that the building of mausoleums causes detriment to human beings. We strongly condemn the knocking down of any religious monument, yet the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been freely allowed to pursue such an agenda. We hereby plead to the United Nations to intervene and aid us in our protest.

Maqbarat Al-Baqi\' (Arabic: مقبرة البقيع‎, Al-Baqi\' cemetery) (Persian: جنة البقيع, Jannatu l-Baqī‘) is a cemetery in Medina, Saudi Arabia, located across from the Masjid al-Nabawi, in the southeastern area from the mosque. Masjid al-Nabawi is the mosque built over the spot where the Islamic prophet Muhammad, used to live, built his mosque and where he is currently buried. Therefore this cemetery holds much significance. The cemetery contains many of Muhammad\'s relatives and companions. Many traditions relate Muhammad issuing a prayer every time he passed the cemetery. The cemetery is also known as Jannatul Baqee ( جنة البقيع ). Its name means \"The Garden of Heaven\". It is also known with its old name Baqee Al Garqad. Baqee means garden or land which grew plants and Al Garqad refers to the large Lycium shawii trees (In Arabic: Alaosaj), a species of Boxthorn plants. Children, wives and immediate relatives of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are buried in this cemetery. They are: • Ibrahim (AS) – Son of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Fatima Zehra (AS) – Daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Imam Hasan al Mujtaba (SA) – Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Imam Ali Ibnul Hussain (AS) – Great Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS) – Great Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Imam Ja’afar Sadiq (AS) – Great Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib – Uncle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) • Fatima bint Asad - Mother of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS)
