MURDER UNVEILED
I recently watched a movie which moved me and many other people around the world. "Murder unveiled" is based on a true story of two people deeply in love. Jaswinder, or nicknamed "jassi" was brutally murdered by assassins on June 8 1999. The assassins were hired by Jassi's own parents simply because she had married a man against their wish.

Jassi was born and raised in Canada. She met a man on her visit to India with her parents. She was young, beautiful, intelligent truly in love and her sin was to marry a man she loved, who was not as wealthy as her parents would have liked him to be.

Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu or formally know as "mithu" was Jassi's true love and life. The day Jassi was kidnapped and murdered, Mithu was also stabbed and left on the streets for dead. He survived to tell the story.

These "Honour killings" are common than most people may think. These killings are justified as punishment for having brought shame (sharam) on the honour (izzat) of the family.

WHY START THIS PETITION?
I keep on hearing how people want to help in some way, so here is your chance to help and be heard. We can make a huge difference so lets get together and seek justice for jassi's sake so that she may rest in peace. I am going to be collecting as many names as I can which will later be forwarded to the RCMP. Please, I need your help, I cannot do this without you! E-mail this link to your friends and family…everyone is open to signing it!

So here is what we know about this case which we are told by the RCMP is still "on-going"

1) We know from the Indian court documents and the word of Inspector Swaran Singh, the lead investigator, that the key suspects are Jassi’s mother (Malkiat Kaur Sidhu) and her millionaire uncle (Surjit Singh Badesha) who were the masterminds behind organizing Jassi's murder.

2)The seven assassins, one being an Indian police officer, are seen as the secondary players in the crime – they have all been convicted by the Indian court.

3)Using phone records, Inspector Swaran Singh traced the “order to kill” from Jassi's parents in Canada.

4)Indian police investigators have discussed their frustration with The Asian Pacific Post at the lack of action taken by the RCMP on their requests for extradition.

5) Five years after the murder, all enquiries to the RCMP have so far only been met with “the file remains open and active.”

6)RCMP’s effectiveness in solving crimes that span international borders, are rooted in cultural beliefs and revolve around religious tenets.

7) Jassi is a Canadian citizen who was murdered in India. Her murderers live in peace right here in Canada;

Where is the justice in that?

Almost 6 years. How much longer is it going to take to get this case cracking?

How much more evidence is needed to put her murderers behind bars?

Why does Canada not extradite the accused?

How is it that India justice system has done so much more for Jassi than Canada has?

These are some of the questions going through the minds of millions of people. Lets speak up and let Canada know we are not going to stand for this. We want justice to be served. We want the RCMP and the Canadian government to punish jassi’s killers for their crimes!

I want to thank CBC and 5th Estate for keeping this story alive! Anita Majumdar who played Davinder in Murder unveiled. She did an amazing job!

Thank You!

J. O’Neill, BC: “Lets stand up for the ones that no longer can't”

R.Hirschkorn, Vernon BC: “absolutely appalled with the seeming lack of concern and action with both our Canadian government and the RCMP. Don't let wealth, community standing, or cultural differences stand in the way of doing what's right

Jasmin Dhaliwal, Michigan, USA: “RCMP, people will no longer link you to justice, you need to get this case cracking and make sure the culprits to her murder are brought to justice.”

MN Chetan, Burnaby, BC: “Why did it take the RCMP several months to figure out that they do indeed have a case for investigating Jassi's mother and uncle? And why is the investigation taking more than 5 years?. what message will this send to conspirators of crimes that are perpetrated on our citizens outside our borders? That they can go about their business as they please, because the law won't stop them?

Jasdeep Bajwa, Brampton: “Canada is a place for freedom and Canada's duty is to save and protect its citizens”

Denise, Kitchener, Ontario: “What has our legal system come down to? You have to admit to being guilty to be punished for your crimes? Everything points to the parents but is Canada afraid of causing an uproar. Would it be bad for business to call the kettle black. It all must come down to money and politics”

Sadaf, Toronto: “If Canadian Government cant help us in such situations than what’s the point of having Canadian nationality”

Jaspreet, Ontario: “Jassi's decision to marry Mithu was maybe "wrong" according to her parents, but killing her shouldn't have been the ultimate consequence of her actions”

Shirin, Ontario: “I always assumed Canadian police to be extremely efficient but reality points in the opposite direction”

The world is governed by 3 sets of laws: 1. social laws, which are the laws of your country and the laws we have to abide with where ever we are. 2. Laws of religion, which Jassi\'s parents uses to take the life of Jassi. 3. laws of nature, which the white canadian RCMP uses against mithu because he is coloured. I believed that the RCMP would have spent millions of dollars find the killer if Jassi was white. I am 49 years old and have observed that all animals are born with a racist instinct. It is this instinct that animals in the wild uses against their preys. We as intelligent animals tried our best not to show that racism but we cannot denied it. Take for example the war in Afganistan and iraq; we all know that saddan and bin laden are killers and that they should have been exterminated a long time ago but who will be punished for the deaths innocent soldiers and the innocent civilians that died in the war. Would anyone punish Bush or Blair? They are whites. Jassi is just another coloured girl. I am sorry for her. Thanks to MSNBC for doing such a great job. There are still alot of Whites and coloured out there who would throw racism aside and die for justice for all. I hope MSNBC can get the world of support and if this case can change the believes of all deeply entrenched religious body the world over. Lastly, they say many hands make light work. Can we get the churches, mosques, and temples aroung the world involved? I am an atheist but I am going to start get the regilious peoples of the different religion involved in theis case. \"Success comes not by wishing but by woking\"

I support this Petition. As a person who traveled to Vancouver for vacation, I will never again set foot in that city and province. I am outraged after watching MSNBC special on Jassi 11-25-09.
