In regards to the discrimination going on at the Job Corps Centers across America, I believe that there should be a zero tolerance policy towards any discrimination regardless of the situation, (race, religion, sexual orientation, origin, gender, etc.) This zero tolerance policy needs to be strictly enforced.

Recently, I received an email about a student at St. Louis Job Corps Center, informing that he has been verbally abused, harrassed, and threatened multiple times with acts of violence. This student is a homosexual, trying to make a life for himself, and is unable to, not because of unwillingness, but because of fear of the situation. He has reported to his counselor of the situations and nothing is being done.

As a former student of Atterbury Job Corps Center, I too, was threatened, verbally abused, and nothing was done about it. Therefor, I would like to see something being done about it, as well as other people having to deal with this situation.

I am starting this petition in hopes of getting the Job Corps Training Programs to ensure the safety and well-being of all students enrolled currently and in the future. This petition will hopefully open the eyes of the Center Directors and show them how important it is to us, to know that this zero tolerance policy is strictly enforced and the acts of discrimination are as important to them, as they are to us.
