Now Adrian Chiles has left the Beeb for ITV the Match of the Day 2 presenting slot is available. Who better to replace him than AC Jimbo himself, James Richardson?
His presenting style is an ideal match for the slightly more irreverent tone of MOTD2, and he's already a face well-known and loved by football fans across the country, after accruing a big fan following after his presenting/producing of Gazzetta Football Italia in the 1990s and, in recent years, his stewardship of the hugely popular Guardian Football podcast.
After seeing his recent football show on Setanta go under due to no fault of his own, I think he deserves a break on a huge show and some well-earned wider public recognition as one of our top football presenters.
He's witty. He's knowledgeable. He's available.
The BBC has made some shocking decisions as of late - sign up here and let's persuade them to try and make a decent one!
