The background: Jay, Eric & Richard have been friends for 10+ years. They met in highschool and did a lot of the usual buddy things: hang out, goof off, drinking, partying, getting in trouble. They are typical boys who did a lot of goofing off and playing pranks on each other: visits to each others works, prank calls, sending plumbers/electricians/pizza boys to each others houses. On a serious note, they both attended Richard's wedding (Eric was the bestman) and Eric was also bestman at Jay's wedding. They were both there for Eric when he ended a long-term relationship and supported him when he started a new relationship. When Jay started getting to deep into partying and got involved in drugs and alcohol addiction, Eric and Richard remained his friend and tried to help him. They saved him from hurting himself when they found him sitting in a drug induced psychotic delusion with a gun in his hand and talking about imaginary bees coming from his ceiling. When Richard's wife told him she didn't want him around Jay anymore because she was afraid he would hurt him, Richard argued he couldn't leave his friend when he obviously needed help and needed him most. They encouraged Jay when he decided to become clean and sober and move to another state to start a new life. They remained in contact and saw eachother whenever Jay made it to town.

Current story: Jay sent a picture to Eric & Richard in which he had doodled a phone number on whatever he was taking a picture of. Eric & Richard were drinking and hanging out and thought it would be funny to call the number since Jay had mistakenly sent out someone's number to them. They investigated the number via the internet to be sure they weren't calling an authority figure or boss of Jay's... Then made a few silly prank calls. The next day when Jay found out, he became upset at them and asked what if it had been his boss or something? Granted, prank calls are childish and immature and yes they could have screwed up a relationship for Jay...however, they didn't but they apologized to Jay and said they wouldn't do that again. Jay refused to accept their apology and told them he was cutting them out of his life forever and they were "dead to him."
