This purpose of this petition is to have lawmakers create a law that would make it illegal for a juvenile to waive his Miranda Rights without a parent or legal guardian present. If that child does not have a parent or legal guardian a court appointed attorney should be given. Children do not understand the legal system or the prison system and their rights should be protected in every way. Also, statements from juveniles should be witnessed and recorded so that statements can not be taken out of context.
