Recently the Comcast Corporation activated a feature in multiple cable markets on the set-top boxes that permits Comcast to display advertisements at the bottom of the on-screen program guide. These banner ads are intrusive, by not only reducing the number of lines that can be displayed in the guide at one time, but by also forcing the user's cursor to rest on the ad each time he/she advances to the next page.

As of this writing, the Comcast Corporation has declined to remove the ads, saying that it is not possible to do so on an individual basis. Further, their plan is to continue to roll out this "feature" to all markets in the coming weeks so that by early 2007 all Comcast customers will see them.

This petition asks Comcast Corporation to reconsider their advertising strategy with regards to their on-screen programming guide. We the undersigned respectfully request that the advertisements be removed on a system-wide basis, and in lieu of that, that a feature be added so that the ads can be removed on an individual basis upon request.

The signatures collected on this petition will be certified and then hand-delivered to the Comcast Corporation's headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.

Is Comcast not making enough money from my cable bill that they have to find ways to insert more ads into my everyday life. 590 7 Apr 2007 - 11:03    Chad Scott : This is the most retarded thing Comcast has ever done in the history of Comcast, and that's saying quite a bit. Minor revenue streams are not worth alienating your core revenue stream. Fire whichever VP came up with this idiotic idea and get someone who understands how to generate real revenue in there.
589 7 Apr 2007 - 9:37    Brian Schwartz : KILL THE ADS OR I'LL GO TO DIRECTV.
588 7 Apr 2007 - 6:06    John Zissimos : Get rid of the ad banner!
587 7 Apr 2007 - 2:37    Ken Sp. : COMCAST-Why do you keep doing things that try to drive your customers away. The small amount you make off the ads will be lost, and lost forever by losing your real revenue stream. I want to stay, but so many things you do make me look elsewhere, and I always show my clients the options--and guess where 95% of the go...away from Comcast. We are the customer, we are your revenue, and without customers, the money you get from those ads will drop hugely. Quit digging in my wallet, and ruining my viewing experience.
586 6 Apr 2007 - 9:51    Carlos : NO MORE ADS
