Coca-Cola is responsible for a campaign of intimidation against the workers of their bottling plants in Colombia. The food and beverage workers union of Colombia, SINALTRAINAL, represents employees in Coca-Cola's bottling plants. SINALTRAINAL has faced assasinations, kidnappings, and threats to themselves and their families.

SINALTRAINAL faces these violations of international human rights and labor law because they are fighting for the rights and dignity of Colombian workers, rights that get in the way of Coca-Cola making a profit. Coca-Cola works with right-wing paramilitaries in Colombia to intimidate and break up the union of workers.

The union has fought back against these attacks and has declared an international boycott against the multi-national corporation.

Here at DePaul University in Chicago, we have been campaigning to get the University to cut it's contract for several years. We have had many successes, large rallies, the support of many student groups, and student government even passed a resolution endorsing the boycott.

The President of our University, Fr. Holtschneider, wanted Coca-Cola to support an independent investigation of it's bottling plants in Colombia. Coca-Cola has not agreed to that demand, and has actively sought to disrupt the process of setting up an independent investigation.

We are demanding that DePaul University's contract with Coca-Cola be cut or not renewed as soon as possible.
