TO PARAMOUNT PICTURES, KHALED HOSSEINI, & MARC FORSTER:
Save Zekeria Ebrahimi, 12, Ahmad Khan Mahmidzada and Ali Dinesh, both 11, and their families. Please give us 105(c)3 fiscal sponsorship to raise money to get them into a safe city before the release of your film.
'Kite Runner' Boys Fear Afghan Backlash [opens in new window]
Zekeria, Ahmad and Ali have been plucked from their home in war-ravaged Kabul to star in "The Kite Runner," the long-awaited Hollywood film of Khaled Hosseini's bestselling novel.
Two were paid over $17,500 each while the other got around $13,700, their parents lost their jobs and they now fear they will be kidnapped or hounded out of Afghanistan because of a rape scene in the film.
"I want to continue making films and be an actor but the rape scene upset me because my friends will watch it and I won’t be able to go outside any more. They will think I was raped,” said Ahmad.
His careworn father, Ahmad Jan, fears his family will be shunned by fellow members of the Hazara population. The Hazaras have been persecuted for more than a century in Afghanistan, most brutally under the Taliban who massacred them for their Shi’ite Muslim faith.
"People will come and arrest us and put us in jail. They will think we’ve made the Hazara look bad," he said.
According to the boys and their parents, they loved acting in the film. Their three months spent filming in China were the first time they had felt truly safe and free to enjoy the things most western children take for granted, such as fairground rides.

If you can pay actors millions of dollars you can bring a few kids who
made a great movie for you and their families to the U.S. |

Shame on Paramount! I, for one, will boycott this movie. I cannot believe
that Paramount would endanger these children, pay them such a meagre sum of
money when Paramount stands to make millions, and appear to refuse to help
them relocate to a safe place. Again, SHAME on Paramount! It pains me to
think that they can't spare some of the money they stand to make to help
safely relocate these children off whom they stand to make millions. Just
sad.... |

Afghan children and women had enough torture during their life
time....poverty and vulnerability have been increased. If anyone can help,
I suggest them to read a few true Afghan life stories....U will feel
it's a necessity to help Afghans...Especially after The Kite Runner |

What I've been reading is terrible news. I really enjoyed the book and
the movie, but at what cost was this film produced? Is the destroyed life
of three families worth it?! No, I say!I despised Hollywood even more
now.Help these boys please! |

I really hope the two boys will be fine. I really enjoyed the movie, but
this really did injustice to them and their culture at the same time. |

I'm Syrian but live in UAE where those boys are there. I ask you,
Khaled Hosseini: If you are really Shiite Muslim and Hazara Afghan,
immediately remove those bad scenes. |

Hello,
Because of your lack of researching cultrual sensitivity, You are
responsiable for the safety of these kids. And we will hold you
accountable. You need to get these kids to America, with there
family's to insure safety. If anything happens to these children or
their family's, you will have their blood on your hands.... |

nothing but for those unfortunate families it would make all difference in
the wolrd....there's so much misery and so much suffering all around
there, but if we can't save the whole world at least this a little
chance you have to do what is right, to make a difference in their
lifes...Its your responsability.Please, help them! |

A beautiful film made with talented young boys who deserve not only credit
but a chance for a better life. Why should the rich in Hollywood just get
richer. If the film is meant to bring understanding then surely the change
starts on the ground! Give the boys a chance to tudy in the U.S! |

If the families need to move out of the country then every assistance
should be given by Paramount Pictures to make this possible. They would be
very welcome in Manchester, England. |

Excellent movie - but I understand the concern. They should come to
America. They can go to their Mosque, I will go to my Synagogue, then we
can all meet for dinner and love thy neighbor. The American Way. It
doesn't have to be a dream. |

I believe people should understand the difference between a scene and real
life. What we saw in the film is called arts. I hope people start
appreciating it, and be open minded enough to see the difference. These
boys are actors, and the scene should be seen as that. Acting. |
