Starring Guy Ecker (Demetrio) and Kate del Castillo (Veronica). This is the story of La Mentira, a soap opera filled with love and revenge all due to a lie. Everything begins when Virginia writes a letter to Ricardo Platas, who is very much in love with her. In the letter Virginia says that she no longer wants anything to do with Ricardo, that she lost the money that Ricardo sent and that she aborted his baby. She also tells him that she found a man that can truly make her happy. Ricardo kills himself after being so drunk and depressed. His brother, Demetrio comes to Mexico from Europe to find that his brother is dead and once he discovers why, he plans vengance on the woman who made Ricardo do this. The only piece of evidence is part of the letter and a "v" inital shaped pin. Virginia manages to convince everyone that her cousin Veronica is to blame. While Demetrio wants to make "Veronica" pay he truly falls madly in love with her and once the truth is revealed, he vows to win her heart back.
