I support this petition. The speedway formed an important part of my interest in cars and enabled me to pursue a career in automotive training and a successful racing venture. It deserves it's place in history.
I support this petition. Just a few words about this. I am 56 yrs. old and my two boys got there interest in cars when they were todlers out at the oval, therefore it holds a special place in my heart. Let's remember the Hemericks, the Chamberlains and others of this area who made Fri. and Sat. nights a fond memory. Just an old drag racer at mission raceways with some fine memories of the good 'ol past.
thanks brad
I support this petition.having raced at this track with the late Gordy Manis in the early late class and a number of years later with Doc Dockendorf in the late models i have a lot of great memories of the track. This would be a great thing to happen to the site.
There's more to local sport than hockey, high school, etc.
Langley Speedway is a legacy for so many people, it must not be lost as have so many motorsport facilities all over the world.
I support this petition. I used to race at this track in the late 70's and have always thought it a shame that it was ever closed in the first place. My brother, Len, started racing at this track in 1977 and has been racing ever since. Len's son, Russ, has been racing for several years now too. At a time when the automotive aftermarket is booming and increasing annually, as evidenced by the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, and other market indicators, it's unfortunate that it continues to be a fight to open new racing venues, and to keep the one's we have going.
Both myself-Lea & Barbara support this petition. This is a wonderful sport for all, I remember coming to Langley Speedway as a youngster, my parents and Aunt (Barbara & Phyliss)and Dad,Gerry Carleton-(has now passed away) used to work in the pit gate and did this for many years. Its a great family sport. There is an old saying-"A family that plays together, stays together." I remember several weddings that happened on race day then it was, "now lets go racing" People need to understand this sport, when people enjoy what they are doing and take pride in their cars and there sport, their busy working on them at home and because of this sport you will always know where your kids are, they are at home, not hanging out at the mall, not breaking into homes nor are they doing drugs. They learn good values and you won't find these kids racing on the streets. Racing is saved for the track and every weekend you know where everyone is. We are out in the fresh air cheering on our friends and families. It would be wonderful if this track could be opened again so that it could be used for many activities, reunions, weddi ngs, anniversaries and all car sports.
I support this petition. I used to go to Langley Speedway in the late '60's. It would be a crying shame to see it go the way so many other tracks have gone. (Grandview Bowl in Nanaimo comes to mind, as well as Cassidy Speedway)
I support this petition.
Lets not let our recreational activities die!
No recreational cleansing.
Why should a very few people stop a lot of people from enjoying their recreational activities?!?!?
I support this petition.
This is a perfect fit for this kind of herritage project.
The GVRD regional Parks system is all about engaging citizen leadership for the enrichment of our communities.
GVRD Parks are also about taking advantage of the unique features of each park.
GVRD Parks are also about promoting social sustainability with learning:
1.learning to protect the environment.
2.learning to share spaces.
3.learning share cultures.
I helped to install the observatory at Aldergrove Lake park when ever that happened, and I,ve been involved the parks ever since; mostly with the Canada Pacific Trials Assoc., a motorcycle club that has been operating in Belcarra Regional park since 1970.

I support this petition. We need more places like this, then maybe people won't lose there lives to people racing and not paying attention to the surroundings. Keep the race track allive.
We need more not less of this type of sport. It helps keep speed freaks off the streets and puts them where they belong on a safely run track. I am all in favour of this track being maintained.
I fully support this petition. I started racing at Langley Speedway in 1968. Over the next 12 years my family and friends enjoyed racing at Langley. During that time I realized to stay in racing and move up I needed to start a business to help pay for it. Today I have a medium size business in Surrey employing 30+ people that I owe to my early days of learning a trade to race at Langley Speedway and using that skill to start the business. 38 years later I am still racing. On April 1, 2006 I will be racing in Nascar Elite Division with my son. Families that race together stay together. It would be great if Langley Speedway could be used for a heritage site or car shows etc. It would be really great if Langley Speedway could re-open as a race track. Being the horse people around the park would rather ride on the roads than in the park, the township or GVRD should re-open the track. Pete Harding
I support this petition.
The birds are gone, its illegal to ride horses there, its not used for anything, all the reasons for closing it in the first place were lies.
