I support this petition because after 27 years of racing in 4 different countries Langley speedway is still my favorite track, thanks for the memories.
I was an autosport writer for now-defunct Columbian newspaper. Many interesting days & nights at Langley. I'd love to offer a few yarns to your project.
People need a place to practice their hobby: cars, airplanes, rockets, boats etc. Room seems to be the main problem and the speedway should be zoned buy the city for noise and car racing so you never lose it because of developement housing. Stuntnick.
Back in 1978 i had a place to race and get the speed rush out of my system safely. i had no desire to race on the street.i definately support this petition. still racing safely at other tracks today #75 Rapid Roy.
Hello, I moved to cambell valley park right when the speedway was shutting down and to see the place restored and used again would bring back an exciting and fun part of langley that is slowly diminishing.
because of the racers who have, yes, lost their lives there in the 1970's. It's a fitting remberance and honor. Plus Langley has always been a "car town", and much business and revenue is a direct result of the race car enthusiast. www.richardcummins.com
Imagine a world with higher road casualties, where a young man is pulled over for excessive speed and reckless driving. when the grizzled old police officer tells the young man to take it to the race track, the boy responds "what's a race track?"
The langley track has been there a long time and provided a lot of enjoyment for thousands of fans.. If someone has moved into the area and does not like the noise "too bad" you knew about it before you moved there ..
Too many times we have built a place to have fun and had some housing developement close it down. Why do people move close to a racetrack, airport, gokart track Ie. Richmonds.and then belly ache about the noise. They need to buy earplugs. When those Enviromentalist are running around naked, only on grass and live under a tree do they have a right to talk about saving the planet
My mother & father worked at the track for several years. I spent a good part of my childhood there. It would makw a wonderful venue for a heritage motorsport park.
I do support the Langley Track even though I live on the island. Racing is becoming more popular as a sport and a good avenue for young people who want to go fast.Maybe this will save some lives
I support this petition,as a child growing up in maple ridge, I can remember sat nights at the "track", it is and has been a fixture in langley for many years and should continue to exist and be used by future generations.
The days I visited this race event on Saturday evenings and Sundays where highlights of my life and I know many other--I support this absolutely and would love to help
We all know it's impossible to sway the gvrd but here goes anyway.I truly think a new speedway should be built rather than waste your time trying talk to a bunch of idiot's who dont care if racing even exist's .If it was horse racing you would win hands down complete with offtrack betting facilities and a new casino but let's face it your beating a dead horse. You should put your combined effort's into building a new racing facility.I would support this.
first raced at langley 1977 won the hobby stock championship in 1984 the last year langley operated.still racing but would be great to go back home to enjoy my love of racing
