In a way, I do support the legalization of gay marriage. I've been married for 5 years now. The federal or state recognition would be wonderful. But here's why I do not support the issue. If same-sex is legalized, then our taxated world would be messed up. We'd have to file jointly! And what does that do? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you get less money. So I say screw the feds. By them not letting me have a license for marriage, they make up for it by putting out more of that all mighty dollar. I'm sure they'll catch on eventually.

Gayness is a mental illness which can be sucessfully treated with medications and therapy.The idea that gays should marry is absurd and their efforts would be better directed at getting the help they so desperately need.

It seems odd that a country FOUNDED on freedom from religous oppression would allow main stream religion to deny basic rights to an individual that does not support specific religious dogma. It is the right of EVERY human to marry or partner whom ever they choose. You can not deny someone this right because you do not share their views

I DO NOT support this petition. I AM a Christian. And yes God said that he loves ALL of his Children, and specifically states that Homosexuality is WRONG! No I am not hating, I just do not agree with it plain and simple. If God wanted us all to be with a member of the same sex, he would have made us all male or female. Bottom line.

As someone who has recently been married, I can attest to the fact that there is no deeper commitment than when one person loves another enough to pledge the rest of his or her life to them. Sexual preference does not make this commitment any less valid, and anyone who says otherwise should be ashamed of themselves. This country has lost sight of what should be its main objective: freedom. Not just freedom for those who can fit into a narrow definition of what an American should be, but freedom for everyone--young and old, rich and poor, straight and gay. If we can be so blind as to deny that love comes in all shapes and sizes, then there is a much larger problem than just whether or not same-sex marriages should be legalized.
