This is my first petition, for a civics project. I feel very strongly about this issue. As it is, British Columbia alone makes about $34 billion a year with their growing hemp and marijuana industries. The laws against marijuana possession are getting more harsh, and with the election almost over (with Conservatives in the lead) owning marijuana or growing it will result in harsher punishments. An estimated 600 000 Canadaians use marijuana recreationally and about 30 000 arrest are made each year. Marijuana should also be legalized for those who need it medically. Why deprive Canadians of a huge part of our culture?
