Let's have ALL the candidates speak! We might want to vote for someone other than the ones who are 'top tier' even before any of the primaries have been voted in. Let differing viewpoints be heard as many of us don't want to vote Hillary or Rudy.
Is it any wonder that Americans are sick of politics as usual in Washington? I happen to agree with Senator Gravel on many of his issues. But even if I didn't, he still maintains the right to be heard. If we are the democracy we claim we are, then let democracy work as it was designed to work. Let the American people decide who should be our next leader, not big business.
It is amazing the actions people take when only considering money and thier own agenda. Excluding Mr. Gravel in the manner you have certianly sends a negative message to the American people. Media's main goal is to get the true word to it's patrons, maybe NBC has a different agenda. I would rather read the tabloids than watch them on NBC. You have now lost one more viewer due to your disregard. How can one put faith and follow those which are dishonest?
Censorship is Un-American. Let every man be heard and lets let America make a truely informed descision. Too many issues are clouded and the Media rallys America to it's own cause. Propaganda is our enemy.
A man who isn't fearful of telling it like it is should have every opportun ity to speak. What are people afraid of in not allowing a man to remain as a candidate becasue of his not being owned and operated by Corporate power? Go for it Mike!
If not for Mike Gravel, these idiot NBC execs would be fighting over in Vietnam right now. Sure, he doesn't have a chance, but neither do anyone other than Hillary.
(letter sent)Sir,The decision of NBC to bar any candidate from a debate -- in this case Sen. Mike Gravel, is very disturbing. It is up to the American People to decide who our next leader will be and that decision must be based on thie positions and character. These debates are a vital part of our national conversation and should not be limited by a private corporation. The role played by the media in society is a crucial one. Had the media played its proper role in the last 8 years our country would not be in the quagmire it finds itself today. Apparently, hand-wringing aside, no lessons have been learned. The legitimate role of media is tp provide the information by which informed citizens may participate in a democracy. By excluding candidates you undermine that role and you undermine the pretense of democracy. You are licensed to use the public airwaves and that comes with a responsibility. We the People demand that you cease interfering in our national conversation by your
It is very imperitive for Americans to be aware of the various number of choices as far as presidential candidates are concerned as well as what they might offer and what they may have to say.
I have been a faithful NBC viewer my entire life, but I can change that if I determine that this network is trying to prevent me from hearing the truth. Mike Gravel needs to be heard and we all have the right to hear him. Don't play games with me NBC, it insults my intelligence, and nothing you have to offer will make up for that.
They want to keep Mike out of the debate because he will expose their motives of self-interest on national network TV. Look atthem panic and blunder! They are transparently massaging the debate requirements to keep out a serious contender who isalso an elder statesman, as if he doesn't actually provide the very variety that debate demands. They want Americans to think that hecan't win, so that we'll surrender to their backward and cynical attempt to obfuscate the ideas of LIBERTY and free elections, so that we'll watch a so-called debate where everyone agrees on safe issues and takespotshots at sitting-duck republican bungling, while prostrating ourselves to the latest marketing technology so they can clean up on advertisingdollars without sticking their necks out. What a cowardly and revealing act by Chuck Todd and NBC, showing their contempt forboth democracy and free speech, or at least their pathetic greed. Give 'em hell, Mike! You are our best hopefor our grandchildren.
We need all of our Democratic candidates to be speaking truth-to-power like he does.I say let him debate. If he does not, the Oct. 30th debate will not be on my TV viewing schedule.
If Mike Gravel becomes president, it will be a turning point history. The united states of America itself will fight the corruption, arrogance and hypocrisy that has been allowed to multiply over the decades.
I am proud to add my voice to the number of those fighting to allow one of the most honest voices on the campaign trail to be heard. Mike Gravel, you are a hero.
The U.S. needs more alternative input and views on the mess we are in. Let Mike Gavel in the debate! His voice and ideas are needed ... in fact more like him are needed possibly more now than ever before.
All those running for President in this so called democracy should be able to debate on and equal playing field.... unless this really isn't a democracy....
I am not a Democrat, a Republican, a Green Party member, or anything else. I am, however, a supporter of democracy and freedom. Hearing that Mr. Gravel has been excluded from a debate is utterly mind boggling. We need to realize what is going on here. If you exclude someone from presenting their views as they run for any office, you exclude all voices. Just the idea that we only, basically, have two political parties is ridiculous. I have a lot more to say about all of this, but I need to get some studying done. Best of luck to you Mr. Gravel. Having your voice taken away from a debate is equivalent to the removing of my voice. I, and every other American, should be furious with this.
You people are puppets! Don't you have a conscience? Why do you think you have a right to determine who or what the people can hear? The downfall of this great nation is near and it is on your hands. I feel ill.
We need to hear every idea from all who are running! I will be forced to have all my offices boycott GE items and services as well as NBC if he is not on the card.
