I think it is preposterous that a candidate does not get to participate on a debate based on monies raised. It violates the democratic principles by which the USA was founded.
George Washington or Hamilton were not asked how much money they had in their pockets to see if they could be vetoed from Presidential debates. High time elections had a cap placed on how much money can be spent on campaigns so every contender gets an equal chance. The onus is on congress to push for legislation which mandates equal air time on all media directed at presidential hopefuls. Otherwise we are left with people who are automatically handicapped by favors to big business once in power.
If the media finds Mike Gravel to be so unimportant in this debate than why do they act like cowards and make up silly rules to exclude him. I want to hear what he has to say because he seems to be the only candidate that speaks with logic about anything and the only one who shows enough confidence in himself and his ideas to be a great leader.
Mike Gravel is one of the very few individuals in this whole country left telling the truth. Now he's being silenced by a mob of corrupt politicians and corporate slime-bags. I can't believe our entire planet isn't in a global outrage about what's happening in this election as a whole. God bless Mike Gravel and Ron Paul, may they be protected from the injustices of our failing system we selfishly continue to call a democracy.
Let Mike Gravel participate in these phony debates. I'm tired of watching the media annointed front runners get the most spotlight. Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich speak for average Americans while the rest are shills for the corporations and the super wealthy.
The lack of vigorous, open debate is what has led to our biggest mistakes as a country. We need to hear everyone's point of view, even those we disagree with, because often overlooked but valid points are brought to our attention and it improves the quality of our decisions. Would we be in Iraq right now if we had had open and vigorous debate beforehand?
Its not the Media's responsability to dictake debates or who runs for President,Its only your job to cover and report the debates,Mike Gravel indeed has the right and the freedom to participate in all Presidental debates.Let the people decide and vote their minds,we the people demand to hear Mike Gravel,
Democracy is based upon the will of the people. To try and bury a candidate because he disagrees with the money-machine campiagn style that is destroying democracy in America is to give up on democracy entirely.People deserve choices -- even ones that speak harsh truths plainly and don't sell out. If the Democratic party supports DEMOCRACY, you will permit Mike Gravel to enter every presidential debate.
Please, don't make the democracy party the mechanism for a Clinton dinasty. We should protect the values of the democratic party and not allow it to become another tool of corporations to exclude real reformist from the debates.
Every Presidential candidate must be given the same opportunity to speak in a national debate. Senator Mike Gravel showed tremendous courage and leadership to do the right thing before. He has a great platform and would shake up the field by raising tough but important issues. Please let Gravel speak!
The fact that NBC is owned by General Electric, one of the world'sleading military contractors, is frightening and certainly smacksof censorship directed at the most outspoken critic of theinfluence that the military-industrial complex holds over thisgreat nation. In the past decade, GE has benefited financially fromthe global war on terrorism and currently holds almost $2 billionin military contracts .
If all you can listen to is money and consumerism, NBC, then listen to this. Let Gravel in or I will never tune in to NBC again, nor buy products from GE or any subsidiary. Your type of behavior makes me sick to my stomach to be American. If we can't have free and open debate and exchange ideas freely, then we might as well all Seig Heil. Or maybe that's exactly what you want - I'm just not buying it.
It would seem that GE war profits come before democracy. I will no longer watch MSNBC in protest of GE over its censorship of Mike Gravel for his anti war stance.GE makes the detonators for nuclear bombs among many other devices of war!
GE is a huge defense contractor, that just happens to own a huge media conglomerate--American citizens will hopefully learn about this conflict of interest--Let Mike straighten up the corrupt insider candidates from both corp parties
I cannot believe that debates are based on how much a corporation has donated to you. If this is a democratic debate, then it should represent what democrats believe in.
