Let the man be heard! This is shameful -- it's completely wrong that money dictates a candidate's opportunity to be heard. Let the public hear what he has to say and decide for themselves if he's worth listening to further. I realize that this is too late to be effective, but the point remains valid. Again - Let him be heard!
Mike Gravel is one of the few voices that reminds me of our forefathers. He is passionate, a real truth teller and you should be ashamed of yourself for catering to the big money to call the shots on public debates.
By setting arbitrary limits on discussion of national policy,MSNBC and Chuck Todd are violating the democratic principles upon which our government is founded.
Our country was founded and built on democracy. Denying someone to voice their thoughts and beliefs is completely against what the United States of America stands for.
This is a travesty. I used to think Chuck Todd was cool when he worked at Hotline and made appearances on The Washington Journal, but now I see he is just an opportunistic tool and a corporate shill who only does the bidding of his masters. Chuck Todd, YOU SUCK!
This is ridiculous! Mike has as much right as any candidate to be on that stage! I watch MSNBC everyday instead of CNN or FOX, but now I shall stick to the local news if things like this keep happening! Shame on you NBC!
It makes me want to cry that NBC would do this. Then again, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the joke is actually on NBC themselves. Do they really think keeping them out of this debate will benefit them, their owners and their owner's military contributions? I wonder if they realize that every other news corporation will pick up on the fact that NBC did not invite a completely credible and worthy PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE to their debate. I wonder if they realize all the viewers that watch the debates will see that Mike Gravel isn't there. I wonder if they realize that people will be wondering why NBC did not invite the presidential candidate that is starting to gain their interest. Other broadcasters will emphasize Gravel's absence from the debate, bringing more attention to Gravel. The viewers will ask their questions, and the other broadcasters will give them the answer. When the people get the answer, they will probably think that Mike Gravel must be doing something right for a giant corporation like NBC and General Electric to feel threatened by this candidate that came out of nowhere, and is starting to rise in the polls after every debate he is included. I wonder if they know that people will wonder why the only candidate that wrote a book on the debate's focal topic wasn't even at the debate. You see, this whole situation is a loose loose situation for these corporations. I am signing this petition, but this is the worse of the two decisions the corporations could have chosen from if they wanted to try and limit Gravel's exposure.
Mike Gravel needs to speak; he needs to be given his due: media time as a presidential candidate. That he's being excluded from the Oct 30 DNC-MSNBC debate is a disgrace, for what is touted high and low as a democratic republic. How many recall what 'plurality' means?
Gravel may not be a leading candidate, but he speaks truth to power and must be heard. It is disgraceful to exclude him from the debate and I am shocked that NBC would do this.
I am a 24 year old Gay American. I don't think we'll ever get Marriage, but I _ATLEAST_ want Anti-Hate Crime legislation put into effect. Ever heard of this Fred Phelps guy?youtube . com / v / bhY3EU32rWc - This is a video I made. He is no better than David Duke.
This is an absolute outrage against the American people and free speech. Since when do YOU decide who will run for president of this country, based on how much MONEY they raise! Talk about the triumph of venality, over morality, and substantive debate. Shame on you, NBC. Reverse your petty decision now. You have overstepped your bounds as the fourth estate...your job, a sacred trust to the American people, is to report, not kingmake. I expect you to do the right thing.
I absolutly support the fact that Mike Gravel should be able to participate in the upcoming debate, regardless of who is hosting it. It is apparent that MSNBC knows the genuine article when they see him and they are scared.
Mike Gravel speaks a level of truth that corporations may not want to hear. He is , for that reason, the most important man on the stage. Retract your decision. It is a bad one.
