The Commercial Networks, INCLUDING GE's NBC should be made a Public Airwave..., like a PBS... Corporate - Military - Industrial Interests such as GE's NBC have NO BUSINESS, NONE, being in the Media - News arena...!!! They are PROPANGADISTS, PRIVATE INTERESTS, NOT PUBLIC, AND CAN DEFINITELY NOT BE TRUSTED TO SERVE THE PUBLIC INTEREST, OR PUBLIC WELFARE...! ALLOW MIKE GRAVEL TO DEBATE, OR I TURN MORE STONGLY TO GRAVEL, AND TO THE GREEN PARTY, KUCINICH, PAUL AND NADER...!!!
I wrote the polite letter defending Mike Gravel as the honorable Senator who fought to stop the draft for Vietnam War and hold the government-Pentagon accountable. JFK would have included this man in his updated edition of
The âairwavesâ belong to the people of the United States in the same way that sidewalks or public parks belong to the people of the United States.MSNBC has a license to use our airwaves and in doing so should not fail to serve the interests of the American people. The Presidential candidates' debates are the only opportunity for most Americans to see and hear those seeking the Presidency. MSNBC can either air these debates or not, but if MSNBC wishes to use our airwaves, we have a right to see and hear from all of the qualifying candidates. MSNBC has a license to broadcast, it does not have a license to define or undermine the American democratic process.
Open the debates. You are after all the stewards of our airwaves. Does it make sense for you to decide who is a viable candidate and who isn't? Isn't such a decision a self-fulfilling prophesy?
Are the other candidates afraid to let another voice be heard? Or is it that NBC and its aprent company are afriad that they want continue to make billions of dollars profits on our children's deaths?
Mike Gravel should be able to speak. If I could vote in this coming election, he would be one of my choices along with barack obama and john mccain. He should be able to speak like everyone else and they should not bar him because he did not raise as much money. This government is starting to sound more like an aristocracy rather than a democracy.
just let him debate. its one of the only ways of getting the word out, doesnt take up that much more viewing time/money, and mike gravel is the only one that doesnt have big fake speeches. hes genuine. let the american ppl see that and decide.
not sure for whom i'm going to vote, but i'd like to at least hear all the voices before i choose. also, NBC shouldn't pull arbitrary requirements out of their ass in the eleventh hour.
One of your legal and civic responsibilities is to PROVIDE A SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES in your use of the broadcast bands. The idea thet you would presume to decide for me whom I shall hear in a debate for the Democratic nomination is shockingly arrogant, and unethical.I WANT TO HEAR MIKE GRAVEL GIVE TO US STRAIGHT, and I want YOUR GIANT CORPORATION to insure that we all have the opportunity to hear what Mike Gravel has to say!
There is no reason that serious political debate in the United States should be contingent on fundraising dollars and the approval of corporate-owned frontrunners like Hillary Clinton.
The fact that he was not already in the debate is simply unacceptable. I want a president who DOESN'T take millions of dollars in return for preferential treatment from the White House. Now NBC excludes him.
Mike Gravel is in his right to freedom of speach and I am ashamed and furious that NBC a news channel that my family and I watch will do such a thing!!
Mike Gravel has made some extrodinary contributions to our country in the history of our democratic government. To exclude Mike Gravel from participating in this debate will only prove that your network is biased and partisan. I also beleive excluding Mr. Gravel leaves the american public without a window into true amrican ideal reform.
I am outraged that a former US Senator is being excluded from the October DNC-MSNBC debate. I fear for our Republic as most Democtrats support warfare and ignore our poor and middle class Americans and Darfur genocide, rather than taking real action.
The choice is clear, either we assert our rights to continue to enjoy the benefits of democracy, or we shall default to plutocracy - the rule of money, or, more succinctly, rule by the wealthy.
Mike Gravel is running a fair and honest campaigne. I fought in the first gulf war, and feel Mike supports my views more than any other candidate. Please give him the respect he deserves and include him in the debate.
NBC's decision is OUTRAGEOUS. HOW DARE NBC curtail Americans' RIGHT to hear ALL CANDIDATES.
NBC is slectively eliminating people that NBC has no right to eliminate. If NBC does not like the candidates, then DON'T SPONSOR A DEBATE. Get yourselves out of the
Everyone should be subject to the same criteria. It would seem that others are polling at the same level, but are not being excluded. So, please be fair. Include Senator Gravel.
The essence of Democracy is an informed electorate. Don't place obstacles in the way of the people who want to find out what eaach and every candidate believes would move this nation out of the terrible mess in which we find ourselves.
It is absurd to include Mike Gravel, a serious candidate and my preferred candidate, from the October 30th DNC debate. Do the right thing and allow Mike Gravel to participate!
Excluding Mike Gravel from the Oct. 30 debate would be a travesty for his supporters, potential supporters, and most of all, the standard diplomatic process the United States benchmarks as being the best form of governing to the the entire world.
