Dear Philadelphia Flyers,

This petiton is regarding a request retirement from fans for the number 31 of Pelle Lindbergh to be retired. Lindbergh was one of the best goaltenders the Philadelphia Flyers have had in there nhl history. Pelle played with the Flyers for 5 years. He played very well for the amount of time he was around for the Flyers. The number 31 Has not be used since Pelle's Death in 1985. Its been 20 years since then. 20 years is a long time for a number to be unused and by the looks of it 31 will never be used again.There happens to be an award for flyer goaltender who had an outstanding year named after Lindbergh.

The Signatures below believe that its the right thing to do is finish the tribute and honoring to Pelle Lindbergh by Offically Retiring the number 31 for the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Club.

I've been a Flyer fan for a handful of years but after reading articles regarding his death it left me marked. What's even more touching is his tie to one of the most important Flyers, Bernie Parent. All he did was look up to Mr. Parent and even changed his mask to the same style that Mr. Parent did. He just wanted to give the Flyers the same success that they experienced with Bernie. Give Pelle the same respect that Mr. Parent not because of his short career but because his heart was in the right spot.

I have always assumed that the circumstances surrounding his death negated retiring his number but in the end, he was only human. Next to Parent, he was the Flyers best goaltender. On a personal note, I've supported the Flyers for over 22 years now. As a young boy, growing up in Montreal, it was Pelle Lindbergh that brought me over to the Orange & Black. And I imagine I'm not alone. His Number should be retired, his legacy honored, and his memory should be kept alive for Flyers fans both young and old.
