Live music is a livelihood for some, why make it harder for people to make a living and yet allow pokies to steal hundreds of thousands from the punters instead!
Raffles and gaming promotions, big TV screens and canned music are NOT entertainment. Live people performing music, magic, dancing or comedy is entertainment.
The experience of attending a live music performance cannot be reproduced, even with the thecnology we have today. Mass digital reproduction has turned recorded music into a commoditiy, and so we must look to live music to continue advancement of the art.
I strongly object to the biased views taken by authoritative bodies in favour of the Club Industry's interpretation of "what is defined as entertainment!".
I support this petition wholeheartedly as in an age where technology is almost to the point of surviving and evolving without the need of human manipulation we must strive to preserve global human interaction and communication and how better can this be done than through live music? KEEP MUSIC LIVE!
live music is crucial to the continual evolution of our society and culture. Public performance of recorded music lessens the importance of our artistic pursuits, and the progress of our minds.
I support this petition as we need to make our communities more vibrant and creative places for people to express themselves rather than only encouraging mindless revenue raising activities that only contrubute to the greater social problem.
Yet another example of how australia in general and NSW especially does not value art and culture. What a sad situation for a country with so much talent and potential.
There are not enough opportunities for professional musicians to perform in Sydney. This is because so few venues are able to accomodate live music. There are many talented players in Sydney, but only a handful get to be heard. This change in licensing laws would open "rooms" in which bands can play, thus greatly improving the music scene in Sydney.
