Live music is critical to the Australian Music Industry, Australia's most important exporter of cultural product. From a Western Australian perspective, live venues in NSW provide a crucial resource which gives our artists the chance to showcase in front of the predominantly east-coast based industry, as well as develop national audiences.

I support this petition because the only people who don't seem to be affected by government legislations are the Government.Musicians are once again affected first because of no smoking and poker machine taxes and now we can add another resaon hotels and clubs can't afford decent entertainment
because live music provides an avenue for cutltural development and expression. In addition it improves the functionality of pubs and clubs to provide a much needed alternative for social interaction which is now compromised by the dominance of the essentially anti social and hence destructive alternatives of television and computer games.

The last decade has seen a dramatic decrease in the available opportunities for new musical talent to perform and develop full potential. The result is to polarise the musician as either instantly successful (Australian Idol etc) or struggling part time amateur. The ready availability for public performance like any apprenticeship is the only way to foster talent and develop the skills that we need for a culturally rich and sustainable community.
Keep live music alive, it's good for the soul and good for the investors if they play their cards with heart and mind and support the culture and community they're a part of!
I support this petition because the laws are totally ridiculous , as a hotel manager live bands are widely accepted and preffered and enjoyed by everone. young bands need a start somewhere
as a musician and the mother of musicians, i am constantly dismayed by the lack of live opportunities for performance. sydney loses many talented musicians because of these poorly considered bills.
These Laws are ridiculously prejudiced against musicians, God knows it's hard enough to get gigs without lumping all this S... on our prospective employers
