Listen, I love cancer research as much as the next guy, but this illusion of unity throughout America is enough to make me raze a cycling-goods store. If "strength" means proving something to someone who wasn't interested and didn't ask them about their status, then these people are living strong.

If you don't believe that however, you realize, then, that these people are divisive and self-obsessed!

Capitalizing on the punk-wrist-band craze, Armstrong had good intentions, but his means to an end fell far short of unifying a country for cancer research. The people who wear these obnoxious, bright yellow bands aren't exemplary examples of living strong at all. Far from it, in fact. These are the same usually-teenage prima donnas who must boast of their personal faculties to the entire world.

To me, any piece of clothing blatantly telling me that the person wearing that particular article of clothing is a strong-willed person of virtue and resilience doesn't come across as inspiring. Instead it comes across as them almost trying to tell themselves that they are really living strong.

Let's not allow emotional charlatans to pollute our vision with these horrendous bands!

It makes me sick that I sign this petition, but I want my thoughts heard. To a tiny, iotta of a degree, I agree with what is being said. It pains me to see people wearing LIVESTRONG bands because their favorite celebrity is wearing one, but what does it matter? Their money is still going to a great cause. I have worn my band for years since they were first released. I bought my band to support my hero, who's edurance in the face of adversity has inspired me many times. I also bought the band because, when they first came out atleast, cancer survivors and the those currently afflicted, got a smile on their face when i came into work at my dad's oncology office sporting my band proudly. It showed the patients that people care about them and are pulling for them. Now, years on, the bands may be the "norm", but I, and many others, know what they mean, and I show mine as proudly as ever, and can truely say, I LIVESTRONG.

I, too, am not morally signing this. I am posting my comments. I wear my livestrong bracelet everyday, and I have purchased over 1000 of these. My husband and the father of my daughter has been living strong through cancer for a year now. Lance Armstrong has raised millions for cancer research, and not just through his livestrong campaign. Where the hell do you get off telling me (the wife of a cancer survivor) that we cannot support the cause for cancer research? Let's chat when the person you love the most in your life is told he might die at the age of 30. I am a Southern lady, but I have to say it. FUC% YOU!

I know this will go towards the signature count, but morally I'm not signing. Where did you get the idea that wearing a Livestrong bracelet means you believe you're a "strong-willed person of virtue"? I believe it is supposed to mean that that's what you strive to be and want to help others to be (such as cancer patients, obviously). The people who see the bracelets as fashion items are pathetic, but not the people who wear them to support the cause and spread awareness. After all, what's more attention catching than a bright yellow bracelet? Pity I don't like yellow, otherwise I would wear mine. And shove it in your intolerant face.

Wearing this braclet is the same as being branded with a number. it's an idenifcation tag. You're becoming a prisoner of our society. Be free.

I don't want a braclet because i know i support some charities. If i have any spare change i put come in those things and i sponsor a donkey. Loads of my friends at school wear them but i don't, a one off little amount of money isn't going to help. By making a monthly donation and helping out with charities is better, yes it is more time consuming but it is all worth it!

You people are ridiculous - get your stupid asses off of the computer and volunteer your time rather than WORRY about what someone OTHER than yourself is doing... IF YOU don't like the damn bracelets - DON'T BUY ONE! Whether it's used for a fashion statement OR for the actual cause - you should just let people live their lives and not worry about it - OMG - IJUST created a NEW BRACELET campaign - "JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU STUPID ASS, DUMBFUCK, PIECE OF CRAP" Nuff said - IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no issue with anyone wearing any color bracelet for any cause. What does bother me is when these people come up to you wondering why I don't have one. I've been asked the following: "Don't you support cancer research?" What a stupid question. Do people really believe that the only way you can support a cause is by wearing a rubber bracelet? Why do so many people feel the need to broadcast what causes they support? I make many charitable donations. I don't need to shout out where I donate my money with articles of clothing. Leave me alone, I don't want to be pestered with stupid questions about what I support. Again, I have no issues with the people who wear the bracelets. It is their right. It just saddens me that it simply isn't enough to support a cause you truly believe in, its become necessary to show it to everone. Now that I am on the subject of donations, I think I will punch the next fat firefighter in the face that shakes his stinky rubber boot at me looking for money when I am stook in local traffic. The salvation army lady also better be prepared for a kick to the stomach if she shakes that annoying bell in my face when I am trying to enter my local grocery store. If the cashier at the same grocery store asks me if I would like to donate $1 to I will make her chew on broken glass. Why can't anybody respect the fact that some people are intelligent enough to decide what charities they want to donate money to! I'm going to drink.

Name one "once-wellmea ning" thing [bracelets, pins, stickers, car magnets etc] that trend-whores and teenie boppers have left sacred, then you'll have my support. Yes, the bracelets are out of control and people wear them without knowing what for, Bottom line - the money was donated to the LAF, let the idiots have their trendy fun and let research foundations strive toward a cure.

I have lost a family member to cancer and i believe that Lance Armstrong had a good cause at heart to start the wristband thing going. They have helped raise alot of money for charities and thats the main thing.
