I think there are a lot of people who would like to support the product, but the price point is too high. Aside from the fact that a price cut is inevitable, and people will not buy one until it happens anyway.
I've had to sign this to make this comment but I do not support this petition. The problem isn't the price, the real problem is that too many what everything for nothing.$600 is expensive for the 360, $600 is way too expensive for the Wii. but when the price point is much cheaper than the cost to build then $600 is worth every penny. Your swapping $600 for $800 worth of equipment. Name anything else that will beat that deal.I have mates you say its too much but sit there smoking weed and drinking beer and they spend more than $600 a month on the crap.I tell you what, I build a car for $100,000 and you lot can buy it off me for $1000, is that fair enough for ya?If there was a car you was wanting but you couldn't afford it with its bells and whistles, what woould you do? Would you create an on-line petition for the dealership to reduce the price or do you save up your money? You do what most non-rich people do, you save up the money at get your car. If you wanted the car that was $5000 and you could only afford $3000 at that moment of time, you wouldn't settle for a cheaper car, you want that car so much you'd save up for it, why can't the same be done for the PS3?You get what you pay for and with the other 2 consoles, they are worth its money, I beleive the Wii isn't worth its money and should be less. The Ps3 is less than what its worth and you will get 10 years out of it. With the other two there just buy now play now quick fixes type of consoles that don't really have a long life-span. Gamers everywhere are already getting bored with their Wii's and the 360 sales don't seem to be moving from the 10 mill mark.So $600 for all what you get and 10 years commitment is a good deal. In a few years blu-ray will be the main format and you'll forget what DVD's are a bit like VHS is right now, VHS? what that I hear you say, see, told ya. So at least you won't to buy a blu-ray player in the future, unless you w
I have a feeling that Sony is trying very hard to get a price cut, but appatrntly it's not enough. If they don't get at least a $100-200 price drop, then i really don't see a very successful future for the PS3.
The equilibrium price for this generation does need to be set at a lower price. Maybe in a few years when more people have HDTVs they can raise the price.
I know it's a little slow now but, a price cut along with a great line-up of games and I will happily ride the PS3 train until the wheels fall off!!!! Go for it!!!
Besides quality and quantity of games, price IS a very important consideration for customers!!! Where did good ol' market surveys go before you Sony guys make changes like that?
