If there are no skeletons in the closet, why does the info is not being disclosed even to the commission institued by the government itself. It is like enacting RTI and categorizing every information as confidential. Does the government want to treat even the annual budget as confidential in near future.
I support this petition. Time is not too far when the common man will take it to the streets for the legitimate right he/she is guaranteed under the constitution.
I support this petition.Gujarat carnage is a black spot in the history of secular India. All efforts should be made to unmask the perpetrators. And discloure of late President's letters will be a step in the right direction.
That the BJP Govt at the centre did nothing to suppress the genocide in Gujarat was not surprising. The present govt. at the centre turning down the Nanavati-Shah commission's request is shocking and alarming. I sincerely hope that the President will ensure that what is done is truly in the interest of democracy and the people.
Suppressing information under the pretext of "public interest" is not in the interest of the public. The fact that this correspondence is being suppressed makes it absolutely essential to demand full disclosure. Indian citizens have a right to know all that exists in records anywhere since it was a genocide organized by the Indian state and we should do whatever it takes to let this not happen again. This is what public interest demands from those occupying seats of power.
This campaign is necesary and I hope it will get the support that it deserves, because the issue is larger than one letter - "public interest" is a convenient lie for the powers that be to ensure that the truth is never brought to light.
All matters and documents related to the gujarat incidents must be shared with the Nanvathi-Shah commission and further RTI demands that the letter be be open to the public. That is the public interest!
