I am a Nanaimo parent of a teen who is in need of this legislation to safely attend highschool. It is imporatnt that school staff be required to assist with immediate administration of the Epipen. This bill will ensure emergency plans are in place and that they will be followed by educated staff.
All I can say is let's get this done before there is a tragedy. I have 2 boys with severe peanut allergy and every day I live in fear of what they eat.
The bill is needed to save the lives of children with severe allergies. This bill is very timely as my daughter is in kindergarten and has a severe peanut allergy. The elementary school is
My Son has a severe peanut/nut allergy. With thisallergy 'life-threating' and the numbers increasing, it is time to start taking it seriously and doing something about it!!!
I support Bill M210. I once had a child on my flight out of northern Alberta one night who went into anaphylactic shock. It caused a major problem, but we did have a remedy on board and the outcome was positive. P.Sleeman retrd Airline pilot.
I have one daughter that is severely allergic and was homeschooled until this year. She is 14 and very aware of the dangers of her anaphylactic situation...but now we have much more to worry about, and realize that she is not the only child in danger. If there is anything that can be done to make life more safe....lets do it!!!!!
As the aunt of a severely allergic nephew I support this as well, but even so I would. It is important that the children whose lives are in danger by certain foods, be guaranteed an environment to protect them from possible death that could be prevented.
My four year old nephew has anaphylactic allergies, and as he will be entering the school system fairly soon, I feel this bill is VERY important for the future health and well-being of him and other children with a similar condition.
Both my child and I are anaphylactic. I'm a teacher and she a student. This Bill could save our lives and thousands of others. Please support this bill and not wait until it's too late for any child. We've already had one loss in our community this year, please don't wait for one to happen in the school setting before passing this law as happened in Ontario. Students deserve the right to feel safe and protected at school. This Bill would be a good, solid step in the right direction.
Anaphylaxis is very real, and can be very deadly. Children with serious allergies need to be protected in the school environment! Please push this forward, it is a life saving measure that is NEEDED in this province.
