Sub: Appeal to promote whole grain / unpolished rice as part TTD’s Nithya Annadanam

Respected Sir/Madam,

This is a sincere appeal from thousands of humanitarians and hundreds of social service organizations to adopt unpolished rice for TTD’s Nithya Annadhanam which could inspire millions of people to follow healthy practices.

First we thank you for providing the divine blessing and Annadhanam to all, irrespective of status, caste and religion.

We are delighted to write to you and pleased to introduce a humanitarian, social service organization called Viswa Manavata Samstha (www.Manavata.org) and Charity Together (www.charitytogether.org) a forum of social service organizations. We are mainly working on promoting good health across the globe.

“Yuktahara - viharasya yukta - cheshtasya karmasu
yukta - swapnavabodhasya yoga bhavati dukhaha.”
- Bhagavadgita, Chapter 6, Verse 17

We have been working on several health awareness programs in India, UK and USA. It has been observed that many people are suffering with illness due to their wrong food habits irrespective of their financial status. It is also observed that the problem around the world is usage of fine processed grains rather than whole foods. Specifically in southern part of India most of the people are using fine polished white rice which is causing several nutritional deficiencies in people. As part of our health camps we have also realized that, it is very difficult to make people to understand importance of unpolished rice. Forum strongly felt that temples are the best places to promote any best practice.

Health Benefits of unpolished (brown) rice:

1. Provides all necessary carbohydrates requirements.
2. Rich in fibers.
3. Helps to control blood sugar.
4. Helps to control cholesterol
5. Beneficial for stomach and intestinal ulcers and for diarrhea. It is easily digested starch food.
6. Because of the mineral content, it supplies important nutrient for the hair, teeth, nails, muscles and bones.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has always been the initiator of many good activities. For example, the ‘Vanamahotsavam’ scheme to turn the planet green is very well commended by everyone. It has been always a leader in promoting any good initiatives. And obviously rest of the country follows the leader.

Having highlighted the nutrition values of the unpolished rice we request the respected TTD, to promote unpolished rice by adopting them in Nithya Annadhana. This will create awareness in people and promote good health and nutrition. This may eventually make a healthy India and healthy world.
