I understand how this can be considered going too far by some, but with movies like Cannibal Holocaust, and Hostel 1 and 2 out there I think we can choose whether or not to buy a game with gratuitous violence on our own the same way we can choose to see a movie or not

Let us adults decide what electronic entertainment we can play.Games based on World Wars with higher body counts are released with no questioning at all? Were allowed to recreate a World War but not participate in a fictional story. I wonder which is worse?

There is no point in the ban. Stop bending over to half-assed censorships groups that obviously have nothing better to do with their time than using video games as a scape goat for the demoralization of American's common public. There are other issues MUCH more worth addressing-not just what we play on our consoles. Stand up for yourself!

why do you think most people buy cd from alternative stores like hastings and not from waltmart.... because censored stuff sucks. why not put a black bar over the mona lisa she always stares at you in a provocative manner in some peoples eyes. i mean come on we are not little weenies and can decide for ourselves to decide what to buy. if the problem of letting children get their hands on it is in fact the problem then why dont people just ban adult entertainment huh? more children that can be counted get their hands on adult entertainment in fact much easier then violent games. the people banning this game are a bunch of cry babies.

One of the main reasons for the total ban in the UK was because on the Wii the player actually acted out the stabbing, slicing, hacking actions from the game. Why ban it for this? What about all those games over the past 20 years which were played with a lightgun - the player acted exactly the same actions on a remote control gun. These no difference between them and this and none of them were ever banned. Additionally these type of arcade machines are still common place despite practically every other type of gun being pretty much banned in the country (real and toy).

A great game, that was given an Adult Only rating, for what?Mature is more appropriate. It's not like it contains explicit sexual scenes for it to be rated AOPlease reconsider the Rating.

The banning of this game due to it's adult rating is ridiculous. Has both Nintendo and Sony forgotten that little kids are not the only people who play video games? Adults do too. Un-ban Manhunt 2 and leave it as is, as it was intended to be.

Manhunt isn't a kids game. A lot of adults like violent games. If they censor this, they will censor something else. Rockstar should fight this, and keep fighting in the future. We can beat the censors.

#949

Rachel Sharp said 06/23/07, 11:57 am (verified)
I feel that this kind of censorship, not only in the video game industry, is the result of parents who want others to parent their children. If this game is released, I feel it should be sold to only those 18 and above and that parents should be more responsible so that in the future, well made and highly anticipated games like manhunt 2 aren't shelved.

We should have the right to decide as Adults what content is appropriate for us. The stores just need to ask for id when selling this game to make sure it doesn't land in a child's hands. This is not complicated. The movie industry is much more violent. Has anyone seen Hostel, or the Rambo 4 trailer?

The game is aimed at adults, yet it's treated as if it's aimed at children. if a parent allows there kid to play it that's the parents responsibility. Don't punish the rest of the adult world because of it. If movies like Hostel, and Saw can be released for the public, and UNRATED dvds can be bought, then why the hell can't a video game depicting virtual violence be purchased?

Consumers and Rockstar should not be made responsible for the parental irresponsibility of isolated individuals. Would baseball be banned just because someone took a life with a baseball bat? I think not. The video gaming community has had enough of being discriminated upon already.

Games should be considered a form of art, the same as movies, music and images. If a movie can be filled with more violence, nudity and language than this game and be released, then this game should be able to be released as well.
