Whereas, the administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be coming to an end this June 30, 2010;

Whereas, the Filipinos will be in search of a new leader by 2010 who can invigorate and strengthen them and lead the country into a new perspective;

Whereas, the Filipinos will be entering the second decade of the second millennium full of hopes and aspirations that their country will return to its former glory through the utilization of information technology;

Whereas, Senator Manuel "Mar" Araneta Roxas II had proven his worth and track record as Congressman, Trade and Industry Secretary and Senator thus leading him as a potential presidential contender in the upcoming 2010 Philippine Presidential elections;

Whereas, he has been an described "as one of the young leaders in politics and business who will bring Asia and the Pacific to the forefront of world affairs”;

Whereas, during his term as Congressman, he had authored the Roxas Law or RA 7880 which established fair and equitable access to education to respective districts for sustainable development; RA 8756, providing incentives to multinational companies establishing regional headquarters in the country; RA 8557, establishing the Philippine Judiciary Academy; RA 8748, amending the Special Economic Zone Act; setting up a Public Employment Service Office in every locality; and strengthening the Professional Regulation Commission.

Whereas, he has advocated "Palengkenomics" since he was serving as Trade and Industry Secretary, which stresses the importance of the markets in the nation's development being the basic unit of economy, thus earning him the title of "Mr. Palengke";

Whereas, during his stint as Trade and Industry Secretary, he has initiated programs like “Tamang Timbang, Tamang Presyo” - to ensure accuracy of weighing scales and price tags to protect consumers; “Presyong Tama, Gamot Pampamilya” - to give consumers access to high quality medicine at very affordable prices (80 percent discount in various medicine); Personal Computers for Public Schools - to boost information technology by providing 30,000 computers to 2000 public high schools nationwide and by promoting business process outsourcing market that includes call centers; “Sulong” (SME Unified Lending Opportunities for National Growth) Program - to provide small and medium-scale entrepreneurs low-interest loans as well as technical and managerial trainings;

Whereas, as Senator, he has continued to served for the people and ensured that they can have access to cheaper and quality medicines, school computers and small and medium business loans;

We, as Filipinos who fully support Senator Mar Roxas, therefore, petition to all our fellow citizens to encourage and support Sen. Roxas as the next President of the Philippines this 2010 for we believe in his principles and we are greatly supportive of his programs towards the betterment of our beloved nation.

God bless the Philippines!

I support this petition. Please Senator Roxas, do not withdraw your candidacy. The country will be in good hands if you become the President and Noynoy just the VP. You should reconsider.

I support this petition because I believe in his principles and sincerity. With him at the helm of this country I see a better future for the Philippines. He is young, idealistic, characteristically strong and rational.

I support this petition and will vote for Mar Roxas as president in 2010, or even tomorrow morning if there\'s an election tomorrow! If only we Filipinos can get this blessed country all cleaned up and managed properly, we can become an economic power one day soon and those among the great majority of us who lived in poverty most of our lives can have better hope of leaving behind our dark past. This possibility is just out there waiting and is nothing strange for an enlightened leader with a golden heart.
