This city is gay enough with way people act about its football. I am a steelworker and that thing looks more like a cross between a construction worker and a lumberjack. At least give him some silvers and a 15' long beanpole - people would still be saying WTF because they know nothing about the 200 year old process, but hey, at least it would be accurate. I am half Polish and half Irish, and there are plenty of both in the steel industry so the name might sound gay but is not entirely inaccurate.
i am a lifelong steelers fan who now resides on the west coast and i like the fact the steelers don't NEED a mascot. we have tradition. and 'steely mcbeam' is the STUPIDEST mascot i have ever heard of. get rid of it NOW!
In the 75 years the Steelers have been around, there's never been a need for either a mascot OR cheerleaders. We stand on our own merit ~ get rid of this or any future mascot. PLEASE!!!
I am from PGH, but now living in Philly. I have been getting shit about this for the past week from Eagles fans. I don't even have a comeback.........please get rid of this thing and end the humiliation.
I am a diehard Eagle fan and even I feel a wee bit bad for the fans of the Steelers. Please do the right thing and have the mascoot and its approver castrated.
How about you find a few old steel workers that are having trouble making ends meet in the Pittsburgh community and have them carry an actual steel beam on their shoulders all game!
