Who's bad idea was this? I no longer live in Pittsburgh and was on a few of our competitors forums and they were capping on this, I am sorry to say I can not even defend it. I was always proud that we did not have cheerleaders and that just added to our mean tuff image. However now I find out about this bit of markething guenuis. I smeel somebody fresh out of colleag with nothing better to do behind this lame idea.Please tell me this is a one season thing, it looks like someone made this costume in there garage. Do you have any idea what you just did to your fans with this lameness? My god the steelers are none for being a tuff team and now we got this thing skipping around the sidelines?
I've always been proud to be a fan of the classiest team in the NFL. I've always loved the fact that we don't need cheerleaders or a mascot to fill the stands and make a great football atmosphere. It has always been the Steelers die hards and smash mouth football and that is all it should every be about. I'm embarrassed to have a mascot at all and even more embarrassed that it is the worst mascot in the NFL and possibly all of professional sports. Retire Steely McBeam so we can get back to trying to win a Super Bowl and pass up Dallas and San Fransisco for the most championships.
Release Joey Porter, dump on Faneca, but give the fans an absolutely ridiculous mascot! Who is making these decisions? Keep it up and you'll make even more people go online and sell their PSLs for $60k! That'll show you!
If the Steelers must have a mascot, why must we compete with the Cowboys and Patriots for the tackiest mascot in the league? I dread seeing Hines Ward sprint into the endzone to be confronted by that THING, regardless of what its name is.
First of all, Steely McBeam is a horrid name for a mascot. We don't need cheerleaders or mascots. Pittsburgh has always been a tough, blue collar, working man's town. Secondly, a flashy mascot who looks like a man who no longer has ties to the Steelers doesn't accurately represent the loyal fans of Pittsburgh.
mascot! in the 'burgh! UNACCEPTABLE! we don't need one. the fans come to see the games, not some foam headed distraction... Steely McBeam is NOT a part of Steeler football. If he ever tries to come in the stands, and blocks a fan's view, for even a second, we will quickly be rid of him. the physical and mental abuse would be too much for one person to take without going to some kind of hospital. I recommend he come out to the parking lot and knock over some beers and a grill. We'd never find the remains. GO STEELERS!
We DO NOT need a Steeler mascot. Babies are born knowing who the Steelers are. Anyone who does not know who they are and how GREAT they are has never lived in PIttsburgh and if they do, please move.
The only reason they got a mascot is because all the other Burgh teams have one. The Pirate Parrot, Icebugh, and now Steeley. The Steelers should have Kenny Kangaroo from Kennywood run around with a Steelers jersey!
